There may have been a Hoverd baptized in England. It does not prove that his parents were English, it is not impossible that they came from Wales, or Sweden, or France. That is just the earliest finding of the name.
More importantly... if your name is Hoverd, are you certain that this is YOUR ancestor? Without tracing your lineage back from yourself, one generation at a time, you are attempting to make a huge jump. MANY researchers are surprised, when searching through reliable records, to learn that someone was adopted, even in the 1800's or earlier. Name changes are very common.
It's cool if all you want to do is find out how far back the name shows up. Just giving you a heads up on whether or not it is reliable, without solid research.

Hey Richy,

Swyrich.com has no entry, but LDS Family Search has 56 entries, mostly ENGLISH.
The oldest I could find was this interesting entry:

35. DANIELL HOVERD -
Gender: Male Christening: 01 DEC 1671 Saint John The Evangelist, Dublin, Dublin, Ireland

Best to try google or yahoo for this. Hope you get somebody of that name that knows, though!
