From your explanation, I don't believe it's bad on your hair, since you don't or haven't permed your hair in a long time. The color is single process, if you permed and colored, like me, that would be a double process. The key things to remember are; limit the amount of heat (once a week is fine), use great products (which you are), deep condition weekly, once a month you may want to do a protein treatment ( I do this once a week along with deep conditioning, because I have a double process). I like to use VO5 protein hot oil treatment and Kimble hair care product Dry Ease Hot Oil Treatment, here's the link - http://www.kimblehaircare.com/. I would also suggest a ceramic flat iron, I'm not sure if you're using one but, you can let your hair air dry and then flat iron it. I bought a ceramic flat iron and can now air dry my hair and this iron gets my hair as straight and bumbed with out blow drying it first. Do you dye your hair yourself? I do and am looking for a nice blond color, my hair is currently dyed a light brown and I want to go lighter but need suggestions. If you could help that would be great. Thanks.

Black women to black women, washing you hair daily is better than frying it.
The fact that you color, blowdry and then flat iron it is horrible.
1. What I would suggest is to STOP coloring your hair, if you want color, buy some fusion extensions and add a few highlights.
2. If you blowdry, why flatiron.
- Pick one or the other. Preferrably the flat iron because you have more options. let your hair naturally air dry. then flat iron it. or you can get a better blowdryer, and use the comb attachments to str8 and dry it as the same time.
3. Are you moisturinzing and deep conditioning like you need to!
4. If you want your hair permanently str8 you should look into a relaxer or a japanese straight perm. They will save you so much time and stress, and with the jsp, your hair will be so much healthier.
Good Luck

I'm also African-American with thick curly, natural hair. I've never colored completely just different highlight colors. When you lift your hair color it makes your hair dryer and requires care with conditioning and moisture. By styling daily with so much heat you will damage your hair over time. Washing your hair everyday is not bad if you use the right products to restore the pH level with the conditioner but usually not recommended or even necessary if you're not using a lot of different products that can cause buildup. I sometimes find it necessary to rinse products from my hair and then sit with conditioner for a few minutes instead of going through the whole process of shampooing.
I think it would be a good idea to try out different styles other than styles that require heat. Naturallycurly.com reviews many different products and salons for curlies. I am personally waiting on a sample from mixedchicks.net and going for a consultation for missjessies.com products. Good Luck!

Putting anything hot on your hair everyday will ruin it. You are cooking your hair, burning it basically. In combination with coloring/perming and using heat products like a straightners and blow dryers your hair will be ruined in no time. Trust me, try not to use too much dye and don't use the blowdryer everyday. when you straighten it, let it dry naturally don't burn it twice. As far as washing, you are doing the right thing. I was my hair, but I don't use traditional shampoo because it strips your hair of natural oils. Use a PH balancing shampoo once a week, or choose an organic brand to use daily.

It is not healthy to do it every day. I would say once a week you should wash, CONDITION well, blowdry and flat iron. If you're having trouble keeping it straight during the week between washing, tie it up every night before bed. You should only have to do touch ups when you get ready in the morning.

Very bad. Flat ironing basically burns your hair and doesnt restore needed nutrients, vitamins, etc. Coloring your hair shouldnt hurt you hair that much, but it might cause staining. Not watching your hair every day is HORRIBLE. Not only does your hear smell, but you get lice, which eat away at your scalp. Basically, you are damaging your hair. If it makes you feel 'pretty' then go on with it =)

Flat ironing and blow drying will dry your hair out!!!!!! It is so bad for it. But who cares? You can always stop when it gets too bad and then grow in some new healthy hair.

Yes this is bad for your hair. You need to use good shampoos and conditioners plus heat protecting products in order to style your hair like this every day. I'd recommend Thermasilk and Aussie- but I'm not sure how that would work for you since you're black. I'm white and those products are what works for me.

yea it is very bad. i have had experience with fried hair because of the iron.... it's NOT GOOD! believe me. Just go easy on the blowing and flat ironing... because you'll have crisp ends soon and they are not sexy at all. Remember to put some sort of hair polisher to help seal in your hair. it'll help with the fried look. :)
