What happens? How long does it take? Does it work?

Yes, it works. The actual operation takes about twenty minutes per eye, but you'll be in there most of the day with all the preparation and testing they do. You will NOT be able to drive home by yourself or be back to work the same day, regardless of their claims. Have someone come with you and hold your hand, and drive you home and look after you for a few days.

DON'T go to some cheap local place offering great financing - this is delicate SURGERY, not a car. Do the research on the doctor/place, get someone experienced with a zero complication record. I recommend going to a real hospital or medical center. All the horror stories I read were from idiots who went to a back-alley clinic across the border, or the local mall to get their surgery.

The actual surgery is a trip. You lie flat on your back, and your eyes and face are all numb from drops. The doctor uses a special machine to slice the top of your eye and fold back the top layer. The laser then shoots in and resculpts the shape of the cornea to improve your vision. The doctor replaces the flap, and you're done. All you see is a bunch of trippy colors (like when you take acid or rub your eyes real hard) and smell a faint whiff of ozone. Your eyes will be red and itchy and watery for several days, and you won't be able to bear bright light or watch TV for awhile - but as soon as you sit up in the chair everything is crystal clear.
Seven years later I'm still 20/30.

I have known a couple people who have had it with excellent results.

But if you want to know more about it here is a website that gives all the details including how to choose a doctor and what happens before, during, and after surgery.

Helen in Drake and Josh did not cross wholly blind. She simplest could not see for like 24 hours considering the fact that her eyes needed to heal after the surgical procedure or whatever. But later she was once first-rate.
