Not really a fair question, depends on what you are looking for.
Barbados is much smaller BUT is also siginificantly more expensive. The exchange rate is around $2 Bajan to $1 US vs in Jamaica it is $65 JA to $1 US, meaning your money can stretch much much further in Jamaica.
Both islands are beautiful and filled with nice people. Barbados has a lower crime rate as well but Jamaica is much closer.

The thing with Barbados is that it is smaller and more do-able. In Jamaica, you cant wander around as much because of crime, especially in the Kingston area. Because of this, you will be staying in the Montego Bay area, which though beautiful, is not going to give you a taste of the true local culture. In Barbados, there is a great deal of old Colonial architecture, and the most gorgeous beaches I have ever seen in my life. Mullins Bay/beach is amazing, as is Accra beach...other nearby islands worth seeing are Grenada (go to Grand Anse beach) and St. vincent and the grenadines. I also recommend Tobago if you are looking to escape crowds. Store Bay in Tobago is quite friendly. I haven't been to Turks and Caicos islands, but I've been told that they have the best beaches! So take your pick!

I haven't been to Barbados, but I just spent a week in Jamaica this past December. The resorts and beaches beautiful, but the outside area is unsafe and full of poverty. If you're going for vacation or honeymoon, the resorts are perfect, the people are really nice an treat you well. keep in mind the exchange rate. for every american dollar, it is a converted to aboout 60 Jamaican dollars. The price of a soda was about 70 Jamaican.

In terms of scenery and resorts Jamaica - Barbados cannot compare, however the crime rate and economy in Jamaica are way in the negative. Barbados is way safer and the economy more stable. Jamaica is BEAUTIFUL but not safe unfortunately.

Yes,Jamaica is a beautiful country! Anywhere can be a place that is dangerous.Do not let that stop you.I always fly into Kingston, but my boyfriend picks me up and I stay with him(he lives in Clarendon). We stayed in Montego Bay last year at Toby's Resort which was pretty decent! It was also very close to the beach! Many souvenir shops as well! Negril is also nice from what I hear!Just stay with your sisters, and watch out for any scam artists! They are everywhere in the world, not just Jamaica! Have fun and just use caution and common sense like you would anywhere!

Jamaica is truely beautiful, however, it is being spoilt by crime and fear.
Barbados really is safe. As a white female, I have no worries going out in Barbados any where any time. So I would have to vote for Bim :0)
