This is fairly simple.

1) Make sure that the Line Out from the Dish box is going into the Line In on your VCR (sounds like it is already).

2) You must leave your Satellite box on, and tuned to the channel you want to record.

3) Program your VCR to tape at your desired time, selecting LINE IN as your source (assuming you used red/white/yellow plugs to hook the dish box up to your VCR. If not, then program the VCR to record on channel 3/4, depending on how it is set.)

4) Most VCR's require you to turn them off once you set the program so it will start - kind of like setting your alarm clock to go off at a certain time.

Basically, your VCR just passes the signal through from your dish box to the TV. Whatever comes out of the dish box, will be fed through the VCR and out to the TV. So if you use the red/white/yellow plugs, then your VCR is passing the LINE IN signal to your TV. If it is using coax (traditional "cable" wire) then it is passing the signal out on either channel 3 or 4.

Also, depending on your model of dish box, you may be able to program different channels to "record" at once. Some models list this as the timer feature. Basically, it is a way to program the dish box to "change channels" at a certain time. So in theory you can record two (or more) channels at different times.

Check the input/output on the reciver and if there are coxal connectors on the satelite reciever then feed it thur the vcr, set the vcr remote to input source that matches the connection for the satelite and set the time. To record on mult-icahnnels will be tough. What you need is digital tv where there is a hard drive on the reciever and it can be set just like a vcr.

If you have direct tv, or dish network, you need to get a DVR from them. I wouldn't watch tv without one. Other than that advice I don't know how to record to VCR, sorry.
