Some people will always have a pessimistic view and attitude toward Islam, not because of Muslims heresay, but only because of such sites like the one below. Click, and you'll understand, why some feel the way they do.
The main source is the Islamic Encyclopedia.

My attitude is this, "there are good people, and bad people in all religions, in all philosophy's of life; there are good and bad people which are atheists, etc"

*"The daily Practice of Tolerance, especially 'Patience' toward all people is very helpful to bring about inner peace of mind, and Happiness for individuals. And this peace of mind, and Happiness is what all humanity, I believe, seeks for most of all.

As you can probably tell, I am a new Mahayana
Buddhist. I am still new to this Philosophy of Life. If I have ever offended you, or been intolerant toward you, or any muslims, please find it in your heart to forgive me.
I have only been reading, and studying about Islam for 2 months, with a non judgmental, optimistic attitude. Do you know of any legitimate helpful sites I can go to on Islam ? Thanks for reading this answer. You asked an Excellent Question, and shared very helpful information. Have an Excellent week and please remain the optimistic person that you are

I would hardly say this is surprising. Take into account that the criticisms of the Jews in the Quran resulted in the persecution of Jews in Muslim lands--often slavery, deportation, land expropriation, and massacres, resulting from the permanent, uniquely Islamic institutions of jihad and dhimmitude. They had to wear on their clothes the image of an ape. Specifically, the 9th century Tunisian Qadi, Ahmed b. Talib compelled the dhimmi Jews to wear upon their shoulder a patch of white cloth (riqa') that bore the image of an ape, [the Christians were required to wear the image of a pig], and to nail onto their doors a board bearing the sign of a monkey. Apes are mentioned in Judaic texts, but zoomorphic signs were never imposed in the Jewish kingdoms, as was done for Jews and Christians in Islamic lands. Hence the actual implementation of such discriminatory zoomorphic badges is particular to Islam, and the reasons for this must be examined independently, and honestly, without any reference to Judaism.

Jihadists today invoke the Quran to justify the worst terrorist crimes. Throat slitting of infidels is mentioned in the Quran. Al-Mawardi (d. 1058), the prominent 11th century jurist quoted this verse, specifically, « When you encounter those who deny (the Truth) then strike (their) necks. » (Quran 47 :4), in his learned discussion of jihad. This ritual execution is also mentioned in other Muslim legal texts and in narratives of Christian and prominent Muslim historians. Today it is performed against infidels and recorded on videotape for the edification of Muslim audiences.

I believe that the Islamic Dispensation was an essential stage in the progressive revelation from God to humankind. Muhammad sealed the Prophetic Cyce which led to the advent of Baha'u'llah, Who has opened up a new cycle of fufilment.

Do you know why Islam grew so fast when it started? They took their army from city to city, when they conquered the city they destroyed the worship places in the city and replace those Gods with Allah. They believe in not destroying people, but in fighting until they destroy the gods of the people. Each religion that has had a God that moves with them has caused much bloodshed. So this makes me think that he ignores part of history. Though I would hope that what he says now is true now.

Everyone has the right to embrace a religion he or she chooses. For the majority of us embracing a religion might mean borin intot he family of a certain religion, raised by the teachings of the religion, and hence embracing the religion, not by choice per se. But reaised to think that that particular religion is true, be it Christinanity, Buddhism or Christianity. Putting religion aside, we're all human beings, not to be cliche or so, but it is indeed true. Is it really worth loathing someone who has the same anotomical structure as you with the difference that he believes in another God. Why does it bothe you so much. If you believe that your religion is in,deed true and the other person is, to you, going to hell, so be it. Why trouble yourself hating someone whom you know is not gonna ahve a happy afterlife? What's the deal with different religions?

And for Love Shepherd: "Good for them. There are always a few lost souls who long for something exotic to fix their problems. A lot of people move to Buddhism too, when they can't stomach the more extreme views of Christianity. Islam is still the religion of Arab and African countries with a sprinkling of people who want to have something different."

What position gives you the allowance to say who's lost and who's not. Everybody can say that to each other with nothing concrete concluded. It's my word against yours. And by simply stating that the Muslims are lost souls, you're putting yourself on a pedestal there. You're not God. And even so Christianity, I believe does not teach it's people to be condescending. Correct me if I'm mistaken. And apparently naivity has shown itself in your answer saying that Islam is a religion of Arab and African countries. My my, are you mistaken. It is a worldwide phenomenon and not specifically for these 2 locations. We have Indonesia, Malaysia which are apparently, Muslim countries. What do you know? Think twice before stepping into Asia then.

And a note one xtremists and all that bull. NO religion teaches people to kill other people. NO RELIGION. No religiont eaches their followers to be bad and spill bloodshed. Extremists are a different class altogether. They give a religion a bad name. THEY think, that waht they do is right, but they're not. Only God knows, and saying that they are following God orders is indeed blasphemous and they are responsible for their own actions. I put my hands in fire that they willl not enter heaven when they die. Just so you know, most of us Muslims don;t even agree or SIDE with the extremists. They tarnish our name and religion as we do not believe what they believe.

islam is a religion like any other religion, like christianity for instance.
there are some terrorists and they do a big damage to the world. but those r seen as terrorists by muslims.
i think that there are terrorists in every religion . we always hear in the news abt killing, and abuse by non-muslim people to non-muslims
i guess this weighs the same as terrorism
