About the cheapest solution around is a system that Wal-Mart sells for $40US. (see link below).

All you have to do is hook up the red/white audio cables to the OUTPUT of your cable/satellite box. If you don't have either, then most VCRs have them.

You can also hook up your DVD player to this as well. For $40, you can't beat the sound this little system gives.

As the previous answer, feed thru a surround system or use your vcr and there is an external audio connection on the vcr, feed the sound thru there. You can buy cheap computer sound system and use them, but you will only have a Mono sound by only using one channel on the vcr output.

yes, buy a cheap surround sound system and you wont need the speakers on the TV, if you want to go real cheap buy a cheap receiver and two cheap speakers...You can get a cheap surround system for $70
