This world has three belief systems of what happens when you die.
1)you decompose, thats it, no more, the void, the end.
2) one lifetime to make choices basically heaven/hell
3) more than one lifetime to learn all the lessons needed to get back to father. or choose dominion, opposite of father.
no matter what you believe two of the above are wrong.
I believe that if you choose love/fellowship and desire to return to father with all your heart that is what you will get. If not it is dominion for you.
Each person here has a responsibility to search for their own truths. what does your heart say?

I'd like to think so. To be said that Jesus was resurrected is an indication of a journey which awaits us after we pass over. Also by passing over, your soul makes the journey back to the source, God.
God can give you the choice to be born again or chill in the heavens (or wherever God designates as haven for souls)
This is where the discussion of reincarnation comes into play. To be someone or something again is an ongoing cycle which will rule over us, eventhought we might not acknowledge its existance.
Also there are a variance of opinions on past lives. Some people can have 2 past life experience, others can have 20 (thats me). Maybe even more.
The difference in the end is how comfortable we are with death. The moment we are born, we die. Is that a really great feeling of fullfilment? Can human life sustain its psychological health knowing that there is no other road after death?
I believe in the after life. This pool of spiritual essence is shocking to comprehend. However, not hard to believe.
Cheers

The question has had an abundance of varying answers. Generally, however, answers about whether there is conscious life after death are polarized between those who are positive that this life is not all there is and those who are equally adamant that conscious life ends at death. Most of this latter group tell us that there is no doubt in their minds that man’s brief life span is all that he can expect. Often, any arguments put forward to the contrary meet with a smug, “Well, no one has ever come back to tell us, right?”
So what does the bible say about it?
Ecc 9v5-6
For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.
Ps 146v4
His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish
Is 26v14
They are dead; they will not live. Impotent in death, they will not rise up.
so speaks for itself - no there is no spirit that carries on after death!
in answer to guy above - no my religion does not teach life after death as the bible doesnt teach it!

There is no proof of a life after death. It is possible and logical, that life may transform into another life. It is highly unlikely the new life will retain much of the original spirit unless there is a very strong desire to hold the spirit together. Stories were told that some people in the Buddhist country of Nepal can remember details of previous life.

Isn't it funny that most people are willing to ignore this question to their death only to wake up and find the answer to it with themselves completely unprepared. If there is an eternity after death, then our few years of life on earth pale in comparison to infinity of life after death. Several religions claim an eternity of very unfortunate circumstances for those who don't comply to their teachings. You would think people would at least give this enough thought to come to a fully committed decision what ever it might be so they can have peace about it now and not leave it open for surprise.

I agree with Morey000. Life only exist before death. Humans made up the idea of an after life because humans could not deal with the idea of death. When you think about it sucks, there is nothing fun or great about dying, but it is hard for people to accept death as a part of life. We are just like everything else, we have a "shelf-life" just like the banans on your counter and to a certain extent a expiration date like the milk in your fridge.
When I describe to my fiancee that somone is "dying", like an old person, her response is "we are all dying". It's cynical, but true.
This is the only life you have, better make the most of it.

Yes, there is life for all after this life. Death is simply a change of state. What that life will be like depends much upon what you do in this existence. It will be wonderful for everyone though and I am sure that it will be a great revelation to many on this site.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

It depends on what you mean by "a life". Some people "live on" through the people they've touched and the work they've accomplished. That's the kind of "life after death" I'd personally want.
