Why is the catholic church so concerned about gay/lesbians adopting children when they continue to turn a blind eye to the rising amount of child abuse by priests . Instead on finding the priests and making them pay for what they have done, they send the priests away to another church or they pay the family off with money.

No matter the institution, no group is going to stop their campaign just because they are accused of wrong doings. As far as turning a blind eye, I don't think it would be correct to accuse them of doing so without first knowing all the facts, which I doubt any of us do.

Secondly, I honestly question the validity of some of these abuse charges. I'm sure there are many that are true, but how often are charges filed with the attempt to bleed money from the church? It seemed that all of a sudden, there was a rash of charges being brought up against these Catholic priests. Had it been one priest, I could understand, but are we to honestly believe that there was a sudden epidemic of abuse, as though it was a spreading disease?

That being said, we should never stop questioning the Catholic church, or any church, about their actions, competency is a terrible thing.

Good question. I think the answer lies not with morality but with simple human resource issues. The plain fact is, the Catholic church has been losing new priests by over 60% in the last 20 years, so they have to hold on to what they have. Since priests are the anchor of the Catholic communion, creating "job insecurity" for them is highly destructive to the organization.

Probably a power thing more than a religious thing. You have to remember that like a lot of religions, the Roman Catholic religion is a multi-million pound business with very powerful people running it, and like all powerful people they like to flex their muscles to keep people in line. I personally am not religious in the slightest but have a Christian attitude to life, I would rather help someone than harm someone. It seems to me that the world would be better off without religion as it's the cause of more deaths than anything else. If the Roman Catholic church gave a damn about peoples lives then they would allow the use of condoms, can't see how they make this out to be against their religion as they weren't about at the time it came about.

The church is against Gay/lesbian union and adoption for them because being Gay is unnatural no other species of mammel are gay its a psycholigical problem and it would be an unfit way to raise children cause if they want them they should go about it the natural way.Oh yeh two people of the same sex can't make children. They don't turn a blind eye to the child molesters that is blown out of perportion by the liberal media.

Pervert priests in the Catholic Church is nothing new, now it is being reported and some of them are being charged. Many years ago if a priest molested your kid and you complained about it, they just burned you at the stake and called you a witch that was making false claims. The church wants to control people and if you can control their sex life the rest is easy.

Because the church justifies pedophile priests. It goes something like this: "Oh, let's pray for them (the pedophiles) poor things, the devil attacks them because they're serving god; let's not judge them, it's the devils fault, it is he, who makes them fall." Now, when it comes to other "sinners" the church wastes no time in bashing eveybody else. San Francisco and Hollywood. God will destroy them!! liberal Europe, god will strike them with all his fury bunch of sinners!!. You know what? The Catholic Churh is THE MOST corrupt and hypocritical religion ever!. How can you catholics not denounce your corrupt church and run for the hills? Are you waiting for more proof ? or are you so damn stupid and ignorant that you're sill believe all these accusations are the work of the devil??

Your question might leave people with the impression that being gay and being a pedophile is the same thing. It's not.

It was the responsibility of the church AND the parents to report these crimes to the police.

Christianity and hypocrisy have always been good friends. These people threw scientists out for finding knowledge while torturing people into confessing to random crimes. This religion is based on the faith that they have to earn something from their god, that someone had to die in order to wash the rest from "sin". If God is so forgiving, why did he need Jesus, why doesn't he just forgive?

You people are absolutely crazy if you think that The Catholics are the only church leaders who have abused children. There are many many many instances where church leaders, youth counselors, camp counselors and those types have done it also.

The principle stands, why should gays and lesbians adopt children? That is the debate.
Gays and lesbians seem to think they should have anything they want and if you dare question then you are immediately labelled homophobic and slurred.
