I was just visiting a friend in the Oncology ward at Children's Hospital in San Diego. There are a whole bunch of kids waking around there with no hair and pulling along IV poles with lots of bottles of stuff dripping into them. Across the hall from her room is a three month old baby who is getting chemo.
On Saturday night I went to the cafeteria for a drink. There was another mother there. My wife and I struck up a conversation. It seems that this women had a baby 6 weeks ago. Right after the baby was born he had to have open heart surgery. Two weeks ago he had a pace maker put in. The mother seemed to be handling it better than I would have.
So - Do these actions of God's have a purpose???
If so then I am at a lose to figure out what it is.
(The above story is 100% true, in case you were wondering)

I haven't seen any actions of god. Everything in my world seems to follow the natural laws of physics and biology- without any external effects for us to notice.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:14. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

I would say yes, but whether we follow those actions is another question.

YES! Although you may not see the purpose. You can't see air, but it's there.

I would think so. It's not for us to understand what that purpose is, however.
