Winnie the Pooh isn't real. The conventions that apply to real people don't apply to make-believe creatures, like clothes and gender. You really have a problem explaining this to an 8 year old?

Winnie is a female name, however Winnie-the-Pooh was referred to as "he". He doesn't wear pants because...ummmmmm...most bears don't?

in your imagination, anything goes. WTP is a fantasy show and he is just a fantasy teddy bear. He is a generic term like mankind is. No pants because it is a teddy bear and a fantasy. He lives in Cristopher Robin's boyhood.

i know. its baffled me for the longest time. he is a boy, nut sorry i wish i knew why he doesn't have any pants on.
a guess would be because he is a bear in the wild he can take a crap anywhere.bears cant undo their undies or pants so why put any on when hes gonna soil them anyway.

Most teddy bears don't wear clothes. Even a shirt is a lot of clothes for a teddy bear.
