Nothing fancy, just a general way to cook it. I hate fish, so I have no idea were to even start!

Heat 1 Tblspn olive oil in a saute pan until almost smoking.

Lightly salt the fish filets on each side,
Sear both sides of the filets in the oil, until slightly browned.

Sprinkle Lemon Pepper seasoning on each side as you are searing them

Reduce the heat. Add about 1/4 cup water to the pan and cover. Cook for 5 minutes (for thin filets), or until the fish is opaque and flakes with a fork.

Buy tilapia and a lemon, and make sure you have butter at home. The fish can be frozen or fresh, but it it's frozen make sure you leave it in the fridge overnight to get thawed. You can get a good bargain on frozen fish at Trader Joes.

Put the fish fillet(s) on a baking sheet. You can put aluminum foil under the fish if you want to make the cleanup easier.

Melt some butter (about 1 Tablespoon per fillet) in the microwave, juice half the lemon, and pour the juice and then the butter over the fish fillet. Add garlic powder, salt, and/or parsley flakes if you want. Cook it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Foolproof and very tasty.

Enjoy!

Great fish to start with! I hate fish too - but love tilapia. I use a George Foreman grill. It keeps the fat and calories down. I put it on the grill and then sprinkle a good seasoning on it (cajun is great!). By the way, you can get a large box of tilapia at Wal-Mart for a very reasonable price. The filets are individually wrapped so they keep better too. Also, if you like tilapia, you might like Mahi-Mahi (much more expensive but also tasty). Enjoy!

Spicy Tilapia with Aioli

This is a great recipe for tilapia. This fish is loaded with flavor and quite similar to tilapia dishes found in restaurants.
INGREDIENTS:
2 pounds tilapia fillets
2 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cumin
For the Aioli:
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
6 cloves of garlic, minced
1 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
1 1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard
3/4 teaspoon dried tarragon
PREPARATION:
Prepare aioli by combining all ingredients in a bowl, mixing and then refrigerate until you are ready for it.
Preheat grill. Combine spices for fish and sprinkle over both sides of the tilapia fillets.

Place on hot grill and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes over a medium high heat. Turn once during grilling. Serve with Aioli.

Just curious, but if you hate it, why are you making it?

Put a pan on med to med-high with a little olive oil. Lightly and quickly saute some onions and garlic (don't let the garlic burn!). Then salt and pepper the fish, lay it in the pan with the onions and garlic. Just a couple of minutes per side until it's white all the way through. It shouldn't take long at all. I sometimes throw a shot of white wine in there, sometimes I just throw in some chopped tomatoes. It's a very basic and simple recipe, but it's yummy with some white rice!

Good luck!

All I do is take the thawed filets and put them on aluminum foil, I then add a couple teaspoons of butter, a dash or so of garlic powder and lemon pepper seasoning. I then wrap the fish up in the foil and place it in the oven at 325 for about 15 minutes or until the butter is melted and the fish is flaky ( you can test this by using a fork).

Serve with the sides of your choice!

If your fish isn't thawed, thaw it by putting it in water.

Lightly brush sheet of aluminum foil with Olive oil. Place Tilapia filets.
Season with Thyme. Sprinkle with Lime juice. Cover with another
sheet of foil and crimp the edges all around to form an envelope. Place entire envelope on a Hot grill.
When you see wisps of steam coming from sides of packet, fish is done (about 10 minutes).

Here's a simple way to cook tilapia..all you need is a MICROWAVE and a few ingredients...

1 tbsp. ginger
half a lemon
3 tbsp. soy sauce
2 tbsp. sesame oil
corriander (optional)

Put sliced ginger and lemon inisde cleaned tilapia. Microwave for 2 minutes on each side (for a regular sized tilapia. adjust time for a bigger sized fish). While tilapia is in microwave, mix soy sauce, sesame oil and corriander together. Pour over tilapia when done and serve with steamed rice.
