6 times a week I do 60 crunches, 30 reverse crunches, 30 partial side crunches, 30 side crunches (each side obviously) 10 reps of plank flow (5 fast, 5 slow: down dog, plank, crocodile, updog, down dog) 10 pushups w/ teasers in (holding pushup at half and doing mini pushups for 5 seconds) 30 seconds of reverse plank, 30 seconds of reverse plank with one leg raised (each side) back strengthening exersizes, 20 min. on the elliptical at 6.5-8.5 mph with the last minute spent as a "sprint" at 10mph. I've also just started running on the treadmill at 5.2mph for 5 minutes after the elliptical.
I started this workout 3 weeks ago with most of the reps at 15 or 20, and only at 4.0-5.0mph on the elliptical. I'm working towards being on the elliptical at 8.5-10mph for 20 min, treadmill at 5.5-6.5 mph for 30 minutes. Am I on the right track with the reps/cardio and will this eventually lead to weight loss/toning. I'm currently consuming between 1600 and 1700 cal per day and I'm a stay at home mom

I do give my muscles a rest and I'm rarely sore. If I end up being sore I take it easy or don't work those muscles all together.
To answer another question, I don't drink soda and try to avoid fatty food and haven't had white bread or anything not whole wheat in months. =)

Where are those calories coming from? Stay away from carbohydrates( potatoes and white bread). Just those two things helped me a lot. I wasn't trying to lose weight, I'm diabetic and those foods are just some I have to avoid. If you drink sodas drink only those sweeten with splenda as aspartame can be harmful. Why don't you just try a diabetic's diet for a while. Please let me know how you are doing(wildwood60@yahoo.com). I also do a fast walk for about 30-45 minutes a day, and a friend of mine(female) runs 5 miles everyday. Good luck!

You need to go into negative with your calorie intake i.e. expend more energy than you intake. This is done by diet and exercise. It helps to have an idea of the calorie content of foods that you are eating (there are calorie counting websites) and then cut around 500 calories from your daily intake. Then monitor the results adjust your diet accordingly. 1Ib of body fat has 3.500 calories, so if you cut 500 cals a day from your daily intake this is 1lb of bodyfat lost in a week. This can be speeded up with exercise (or will balance out if you eat more). Regarding the exercise, the BEST is speedwalking. If your heart rate goes above a certain level during exercise you will burn carbs from what you ate that day and not fat. It is also best first thing in the morning on an empty stomach as you only have fat to burn and no carbs. So any cardio exercise is good at a slow pace. About 30-45 mins a day should do. Ignore all these comments about not eating after a certain hour. It's what you eat not when.

That sounds like a lot of work. Cut the floor exercise to 4 times a week and walk the other 2 days to give yourself a mental break to keep from burning out. Other than that sounds good!

sounds like you may be overworking your muscles, which could lead to injury. you need to allow a day of rest between working the same muscle groups. maybe one day you could do all the strength training and an easier cardio, and alternate with the harder cardio. whatever you do, you should allow each muscle group a recovery day.
