They can bleed for up to 3 weeks (but 5-7 days is a low average). After she quits bleeding is when you will really need to watch her to make sure that she does not breed. Females are usually in heat for about 3-4 weeks (for entire cycle), but some are shorter and some are longer.

I doubt the vet told you 5 - 7 days if they did you better find a different vet!!A dog is in heat for 21 days. You need to keep her under close supervision and away from all male dogs.
I also recommend that you set up a spay appointment in a month. She will be much happier and will live a longer, healthier life.

First of all if a vet told you 5 to 7 days. I would be finding me a new vet. A dog is in heat for three weeks. Keep and good eye on here because she is to young to be having puppies.

The average heat lasts a total of 3 weeks. They're not in standing heat the whole time, but still need to be kept away from all males for the full 3 weeks.

Oh they can up to 21 days or there abouts. The 14 days that someone is recalling may be because many breed on the 11th and/or 14th day.

Usually 2-3 weeks, depending on the dog.
Have her spayed when she's done with this heat - You won't have to deal with it again and it's a lot better for her health in the long run!
