My mother used to make me a smoothie every morning, I think she used bananas, yogurt and ice. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Or am I forgetting something? I'm trying to make them every morning relatively cheaply and healthy. Thanks.

You will for one need a blender. What you do is gather one to two cups of ice, different sorts of fruit, powdered sugar, half a cup of milk, and plain yogurt. What you do is first add in the ice, milk and plain fruitless yogurt. Next is the fruit. You can use any type of fruit you want, but make sure you have enough fruit. Bananas are the number ingredients to a smoothie. My opinion is that, a smoothie without bananas is a not so good smoothie, but if you don't like bananas don't add them. You mix the ingredients into the blender and make sure you add in powder sugar. After you mix the ingredients take a little taste test and if some seems missing just add more of what you think is missing then blend again. When is taste perfect, there you go, you have your smoothie.

Made with yogurt, this drink is both refreshing and nourishing. To tell when a banana is ripe, look for tiny brown spots, called sugar spots, on the peel.
Ingredients

1 ripe banana
1/2 c. nonfat yogurt
1 tbsp. sugar (or to taste)

1 c. crushed ice
1 tsp. fresh lime juice
lime wedge or banana slice, for garnish
Combine the first 6 ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the smoothie into a large glass and garnish with a lime wedge or banana slice. Serves 1.

That works.

I buy the whey powder from Costco. Vanilla flavor:
One scoop of powder
One cup frozen blueberries
One cup + soy milk to desired liquidity

Good protein and anti-oxidants.
