Chippy...I am from Kansas and I used to live just south of Topeka. In my view and the view of the majority of Kansans...Fred Phelps (I refuse to call him a Reverend...he used to be a shyster attorney) is an embarrassment and a shame to all of us. The man really is not sane. Now he claims to be a prophet.

My family is involved in the Patriot Guard and we go to the funerals of soldiers to keep this menace of a man away from the grieving families.

Does he have followers...well his family...and those homophobic bigots you find just about everywhere. But for the most part....no....churches and other organizations here in Kansas PROTEST AGAINST HIM.

the only people who think of WBC is representative of Christianity are the folk who hated Christians first of all. None of their teachings face up to Biblical scrutiny and that they are greater of a small city cult. they suspect all and sundry is going to Hell (all and sundry, even Christians!) and in trouble-free terms have a hundred or so contributors. they do no longer look to be truthfully Baptist and the main meat of the church is one hick kinfolk. that's nowhere close to Christian.

I dont. They came to York Pennsylvania this past weekend to Protest at the York High school. We actually had a counter protest against them telling them to go back to Kansas.

From what I've heard they've become a borderline cult, if not an out and out one.

God doesn't even hate them for the sin they're commiting of not loving gays.

DO NOT [I say again DO NOT] ever associate me with those people!!! **ahem** please and thank you, Chippy

Seriously, those people are scary and are dreadfully wrong in their interpretation of what is/is not in keeping with God's teachings and the Christian faith. The Bible does indicate that there would be many who are deceived, and who do things in the name of the Lord that are truly abominations.

just the url was enough for me.

You actually think God hates anybody,
Looks like the devil got into your heart and made it black.

Hate is an evil emotion, so you just implied that God was evil,
Shame

edit:
Sorry, I should have clarified,
I was usind the term YOU in a general noun. I din't mean YOU personally, just a general for the people that do believe that.
