I PREFER SAMSUNG THOUGH A COMMON MAN MAY THINK SONY IS GOOD
BUT SAMSUNG GUYS HAVE DESIGNED WELL WITH GOOD INBUILT SPEAKERS FOR 50" REAR PROJECTION
SAMSUNG MAY BE SLIGHTLY COSTLY I THINK
I M NOT SURE CHECK IT OUT

The first and second posters are woefully wrong. The Sony Grand Wega is a very fine TV, good for everyday family viewing. The Samsung DLP is also very good, but you may be bothered by the Rainbow Effect, which is a streak of multicolored light accross the screen. The Sony RPLCD has a downside, which is the interpixel fill. I have the KDF-E42A10 (Equivalent to the KDF-42E2000), and it is not noticeable until about 4 feet or closer. Sony also offers a SXRD (LCoS) TV, but the bulb has to be replaced every year, versus every four years for the LCD/DLP. The lamps only cost about $150 for both, and it's like getting a new TV with a very bright image. Plasmas/Flat Panel LCD's lose brightness over time, but also offer a good picture, with Plasma currently ruling the PQ war. Flat Panel LCD's offer a comparable picture as RPTV's, but they have no lamp to replace. I would go with a 42" Plasma or a 42" Sony RPLCD. Both are of reasonable prices with very good PQ.

I have read reviews on Samsung's 50in DLP. Almost all can't believe how GREAT the picture is. This TV with 1080p will run you around $1700 at CC/Best Buy, or around $1300 on amazon. DLP's bulb will need to be replaced about every 2-3 yrs. this will cost about $200. Sony LCD's are also very nice but several hundred dollars more expensive. In order to get HD programming contact your cable or sat. provider. You can use an antenna to get your local ABC,NBC, CBS, etc... Hope this helps.

OK well we are talking about a High end unit (Sony) vs a LOW end unit (Samsung).

I own a TV repair shop and I tell people do not buy samsung. TVs are junk.

There whole electronics design is not robust and dosnt last long.
Sonys are built to last and I hope you take my advice.

Ask any TV repair shop and ask them whats a good brand and what is a bad brand.

I guarentee they will say..Sony,Toshiba,Mitsubishi,Pioneer,Hitachi,Panasonic...
