It is a fact that sudden diet changes can cause stomach problems in cats and dogs. A sudden change of brand or type of food can cause vomiting and diarrhea. You shouldn't change the brand suddenly unless a Vet tells you to for medical reasons.
If you want to switch brands you have to add the new brand gradually to the old brand. Ideally over the course of a week or so.
First adding 1/4 of the new food for a few days, then 1/2, then 3/4, and then if no ill effects are observed, you can feed only the new brand.
If a few months after that you need a change again, you can do the gradual switch it all over again. Ideally you should stick with one brand, though.
I work at a Vet Office in Boarding and *trust* me, when owners dont bring the pets own food and we are forced to feed our brand, they vomit bile and diarrhea within a day or two.
Good Luck with your kitty!

It is OK to switch your cat food if you feel that either another brand is cheaper to fit your budget or that another brand has ingredients you like better. These should be the only reasons for switching food. You can switch in a couple of months, but the first question seems like you want to switch again a couple of months after that. Why?

When it's time to change her food, use 75% Iams and 25% of another brand. Do that for about a week and then change to half Iams and half something else for a week and so on until you ween her off of it. It's not good for kittens or cats to have their food constantly or abruptly changed. Iams is pretty expensive so try 9 lives when it's time to change. My kitties' love the seafood medley.

Well if you change it they will never get used to any food and they will never feel comfortable and at home with there 1 type of food. My cat loves his 1 kind of food I try giving him a different kind and he will eat a little but not more than a little snack, it's nothing he would like done he gets mad and meows in a mad meowing voice. It is better on there digestive system if you stick to the same kind.

Try and stick to the same one because change in food can give them diarrohea. As long as they are eating it and are healthy no need to change. When you change them to adult food at 12 months IAMS have a few different flavours so you could buy them different flavours.

I wouldn't unless there's a problem. Like if your kitty is allergic or needs to go on a special diet, but if you do change, I recommend mixing the two together so he can get use to the new brand.

Stick with one food, but if you do need to switch, you need to do it gradually. Your vet can give you a sheet that will explain what percentages to mix the food so its not a big shock to the cats digestive track.

If it is price or health you are concerned about then do it but don't switch them too often and do it very very slowly or kittens will get the runs. You should try to stick to one.
