What kind of projector do you have?? LCD or DLP??

Check these:
1) Clean the lens

2) try adjusting the pannels (if LCD)

3) Might have dust on one of the LCD pannels (if it's a line, it might be hair), is it a specific color? if your projector has the capability (like the Sanyo Z series) follow the instructions from the manual to clean the pannels.

There is many reasons. first of course it could be a dirty lens. but then you have to look at other things. such as the connections. if it is fuzzy when you use your dvd player and not when you use another component it could just be a connection issue. you also have to look at how old the projector is. it could be the lamp is going bad and needs replacing. most projectors now have a 3000 hour lamp so if it is getting near that it could be the problem. if all these things turn out to be ok it maybe be you need to take it apart and clean the mirrors. this may void the warranty and it is very difficult if you don't know how to do it so taking it to someone may be a better option.

good luck

There might be something wrong with the lense or the ignal feeding in. Sounds more like a technical problem than just a cleaning issue.
