I have a 1yr old choc lab, pretty healthy, has had digestive problems in the past, it seems lately every other day or so, after she eats sometimes right after sometimes hours later, she throws up, but it looks like just her food, but all mushed up. Wondering what it could be, she is active, drinks her water regular, eats wehn its her time. Could it be the food? maybe eating to fast, or whatelse could it possibly be? She has had issues before where she ate things, and it screwed her whole sytem up, but she went on prescription dog food, and just recently been merging her onto regular food, the throwing up has happened before the change too.

ooh, this is awesome..I love telling stories about my lab kiesha. :-)
My labX kiesha was doing this same thing..her tummy was sooo sensitive.
One day my trainer and vet suggested that the food I was feeding her (chicken and rice) was too "hot" for her.
I guess chicken dog food is high fat??
anyways, I put her on a beef based dog food...viola..no more puking. It was wonderful..
however, i used her constant bouts of puking to train her only to throw up on linoleum...it was great! Every time she got sick, she would run to wherever there was linoleum..(you must admit, puke is easier to clean off of linoleum than carpet!)
Bottom line though, try a different type of food..wean her onto it slowly though, too fast can cause diarhea.

First things first. Has a vet seen her? Large dogs can have digestive issues (twisted stomach so food doesn't go down.. kills them in hours... so don't let your dog gulp or do strenuous exercise immediately afterwards)... doubt its that but... you get the picture.

Try adding a couple of tablespoons of olive oil to the food. It'll sooth the passing of the food if your animal has an irritated tract. Alternatively, you could soak the food in water. AND... don't give her all her food at once.

The prescription aspect is rather important but it appears that that didn't help. Try pacing her food intake and let me know if it helps.

I doubt its the food. Why not try the vegetarian dog food. It consists of products which are easy on the digestive system (also geared towards allergic dogs) or are alternative sources such as venison and fish.

Labs are notorious for gulping food... a big no-no.

I suggest to try to change her food. Just dont change it right away tho... slowly wean her off the food shes eating now into a different one. Mix 1/2 and 1/2 the old stuff and the new. My dog also has a problem keeping some of the foods I buy him down. I have found that the best foods in my pups are Science Diet for sensitave stomach's and Eukenuba's foods. Try it... !!! :)

Rx foods rarely help with the problem. I have a chocolate lab with a sensitive system. I feed her Innova EVO. It's based on a raw diet and is free of the majority of allergy triggers in dogs. If she's eating too fast, put something in the food bowl, like a can of beans or a kong, something she has to eat around to slow the process down. If she gets diarrhea regularly, it's probably the food. Add a probiotic and some slippery elm (found in a natural food store) to her meals everyday. The probiotic will help increase her healthy bacteria and the slippery elm will help heal her digestive tract.

First any dog who has a history of eating things it shouldnt should be highly suspect of doing it again. You should have another xray taken just to make sure. Its also possible she developed esophagitis or megaesophagus (not as common in young dogs) due to the previous episodes of vomiting. Food allergies could be involved, but I would rule out serious problems first, especially if your not seeing any other allergy symptoms like diarrhea, itchy skin or paws. Prescription diets do work and are the best available out there, they are well researched and tested. Never feed your dog olive oil or oil of any sort, could cause diarrhea or pancreatitis.

If for the past few days your dog has been vomiting up her food, that means, that she is not having time to digest and therefore not getting her nutrition. She needs to go to the vet right away. She is going to get dehydrated, and she needs to get nutrition into her, fast. Your dog is in danger if you do not see a vet. Vomiting is not normal and clearly it is not going away on it's own, in addition it is interfering with your dog getting the nutrition he needs. If you cannot get a vet appointment immediately, try feeding your dog a few tablespoons of food every few hours to try to get him to keep down and digest at least a little food. His getting less food is better than getting none.

If she's throwing up almost every time she eats, there is a pretty good chance that either something is obstructing her digestive tract or that she has eaten something toxic. Take her to a vet *immediately*! Labs - especially young ones - have been known to eat all kinds of weird things. If she has eaten something that she cannot digest, it could be blocking her intestinal tract. Please take your baby to the vet.

i think it's how fast she is eating. and is she eating to much? what kind of food is it? put her back on the expensive food and see if it happens again. if you cant put her back, slowly feed her meals. dont give the full scoop that is recommended. break it apart and see if she does it after that.

usually after an hour in any stomach, the stomach acids would get to it. my past dog would throw up yellow acid stuff along with his food.
