Hi there, my dog (a small shih tzu) doesn't bark at strangers on our walk, in fact, he goes up to them tail wagging lol. The only time he barks at them is when we're inside my apartment and he sees them walking by. I think he is telling me that hey, there is someone I don't recognize walking by and i'm alerting you. It's nice to have a watch dog. He also lets me know whenever someone rings the doorbell on the television....go figure. =)

They are just that "strangers" and most dogs consider them a threat and bark at them.

Because it's a dog's natural instinct to protect it's master - "Strangers" are seen as a threat by the dog!

would u bark at someone you didnt know? they bark at anything not only strangers... thats the way God made them,, to bark.

well... most dogs would consider them a threat to you, your family, and them so they just bark. or when something statlres them they bark at that too.

some dogs are very territorial. they think that the stranger is on their "land" even if they're across the street. this is no cure because this is natural to them

because their smell is foreign and they are afraid so they bark to make themselves seem bigger and tougher.
