At my place of work part-timers are given a holiday allocation on a pro-rata basis, in some cases based on hours rather than days where the staff are rostered to work part days.

depends on your employer. The place I work for only pays for holidays, vacation, etc when you are a full-time employee. This means working 40 hours a week, any less you are considered part-time (no benefits)
