Well I am on day 17 of antibiotics and still have facial pressure and my face is hot and a bit of nasal drip. I am also on a prescription decongestant that is the size of a horse pill. I am currently taking a new Augmention that is 2 twice a day for 10 days. After I started taking it I actually felt worse last week. So I don't know if it is doing anything. I hate all these antibiotics!!!! This started last August and I did a couple rounds of antibiotics and then freaked out and didn't get anymore and perhaps that is why I am still having problems not sure. Then I had a flare up again in November and was on antibiotics and then called and said I wasn't 100% but the nurse said try something OTC and humidifier. Then in January until now I am having the same problems again. It starts out chills and pressure and becomes so much nasal drip that I get really sick from that and my head gets so hot. This weekend my glands were swollen and my nose was running like crazy.... Any suggestions?

EXTRA... I use a nasal wash and sprays. I have tried many holistic things like herbs, etc. and steam. I definately am not happy about the antibiotics but I don't know what else to do.
MORE INFO> I am taking priobotics, I exercise and have no bad habits like drinking and smoking. I usually get the recommended amount of sleep. I have gastric upset. I have taken herbs for colon cleanse in case of candida. I have tried to eat better and avoid a lot of sugars/carbs and such. That is why I thought I would take the advice of the doctor (although normally it does nothing) but I am desperate!!!
Some people on here freak me out with their answers of how serioius it is and then others say they never get rid of it... I am calling the doctor today because it is the last day of my antibiotics but I like to hear what you all have to say from your experience.

Try 'high' doses of vitamin C (like 2,000 or 3,000 mg a day) with plenty of liquids. That's helped me the most; it tends to dry the sinuses and then help balance their moisture.
I have truly appreciated antibiotics, but --- it's good you had a rest from them. Too many for too long create resistance and so it's not worth the money and energy!
The chills and pressure part --- have you mentioned that to your doc? Sounds unusual (chills related to strictly the sinuses). You may need to do follow-up...
You may want to try saline treatments (for example, buy a neti pot with salt) - where you very gently clean irritants from your nose. This can help the sinuses because of the removal of extra irritants.
PS I saw your updates and read some of the other notes. Sorry no one's whispered a magic cure! *grin* Sorry also you haven't had sustained relief. One doc told me that some patients are on Sudafed for life; once I heard that, I was QUITE frustrated. And sinus procedures sound frightening - so I'm with you, it's worthwhile to exhaust a bunch of things! Lisa M mentioned something about garlic. Garlic acts as a natural antibiotic. Garlic (pills should work), cayenne (again, the 'cool'pills), and other herbs can have antibiotic effects - and may or may not be cheaper and easier to deal with than pharmaceutical drugs. So now, it seems to be a matter of getting THIS under control and then using follow-up strategies so it doesn't 'ever' get this bad again. You may need to use a multiple treatment approach for a while: a strong antibiotic with saline rinses with steam treatments and so on. May you find peace and comfort with some regimen; hot compresses on the face and salt rinses for the mouth can add to the comfort. Best wishes! It seems the genetics of problem-prone sinuses are just MUCH worse for some of us than others. (Having my tonsils removed helped me somewhat.)
HANG IN THERE! The fatigue (and probably irritability) you may feel are sadly normal. It makes me want to cry when going through this kind of thing, and I've just been so busy I got off regimen and am starting symptoms of a sinus infection myself.
THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

Why are you posting this again. Since the antibiotic is not working you need to go back to the doc and get this changed before it becomes serious. Either call your doc and ask him to change it as it isn't working or go in and see the doc. Once you get this cleared up get on a good mulitvitamin that is well absorbed by your body and a good antioxidant supplement to help keep this under control for good. Instead of reposting the same question look up your doctors phone number and call the clinic. You need a different antibiotic and no one on here can do that for you. You have to make the call to your doc.

I've had the same problems. If you can, see an allergist/ear, nose, and throat doctor (ENT). Right now, I am on Zyrtec, Astelin, and Nasonex, and this combination seems to work best for me - I've gone from having chronic sinusitis to acute infections only once every few months. Also, Clindimyacin (sp?) is a stronger antibiotic that is known for treating sinus infections. It could be that you have built up an immunity to the Augmentin. Feel better soon!

Antibiotics are not going to work. This happened to me and I looked all over for another solution. This is what I found that worked.Eat has much raw garlic as you can.It has to be the real thing, not pills. It will bother your stomach and keep your friends away but if you want to get better and kill the infection it will work. Also take sea salt and warm to hot water and kind of sniff it up your nose.I know it sounds bad but it will help with the infection.Try it I know it will work.Feel Better!

It sounds like you have a resistant form of sinusitis.I rec commend a re feral to an ENT specialist. There are alternative treatments for sinusitis.Too many antibiotics can cause undesirable side effects. Long term use of decongestants can be detrimental. Check out other options.

Try saline solution... I think it's called Ocean in a small nose spray bottle at your local pharmacy. I also use the "Medipot," which is like a Jeanie Bottle, you dissolve saline packets in warm water and then pour it in one nostril and it comes out the other... (watch out for "snotty" remarks when you're doing this in front of kids or significant other, "Your nose is running!") Seriously, it kills the bacteria in your sinus cavity... it works great, it's terrible to do, but it really works!
