I've never heard it called that!! But you pretty much can make it however you want it. Usually it has some sort of cereal (Cheerios, Chex, etc), M & M's, pretzels, cheese crackers (goldfish, Nips, etc), raisins, nuts, popcorn....whatever you want!

The powdered sugar makes me thing maybe you're wanting the "puppy chow" mix. It's Chex cereal, mixed with melted chocolate chips & peanut butter, then coated with powdered sugar. You can also then add any of the above ingredients into it if you like....

This recipe was good enough to give as gifts:

White Trash
---
Two 11 oz. bags of White Chocolate chips
3 Cups Cheerios
3 Cups Rice Chex (small box)
3 Cups Corn Chex (small box)
1 Pound plain M&Ms
2 Cups mixed nuts (salted, no peanuts)
2 Cups small pretzels

1. Get a really big metal bowl and place it over a large sauce pan/pot containing about an inch of water. Put this over medium heat.
2. Dump in the chips in the bowl and stir with a rubber spatula (every now and then) until they’ve melted smooth. You can walk away from time to time but be careful not to let the water get to hot or the cocoa butter will bog.
3. Dump everything else in the bowl and fold over and over until the hunks and chunks are well coated.
4. Spread the mess out on parchment paper or wax paper and put in a cool place until it sets solid, then break it into pieces and seal in tins.

This is a healthier version. Maybe you mean muddy buddies? look on the box of chex mix.

Sweet Trash

1 1/2 Quarts (6 Cups) Rice Chex
2 Cups Corn Pops Cereal
1 Cup Brown Sugar
4 teaspoons Sugar Twin Brown Sugar Replacement
1 Cup Liquid Butter Buds*
1/2 Cup White Corn Syrup
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
4 Cups (about 6 oz.) Small Pretzels

*To make liquid Butter Buds - Mix 1 oz. (5 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon) of Dry Butter Buds with 1 Cup Hot Water.

Combine popcorn, pretzels and cereals together in a large pan that has been sprayed with a non-fat cooking spray. Combine sugar, Butter Buds, syrup and salt in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and quickly stir in baking soda. Pour over popcorn mixture and mix together quickly, before the syrup hardens. Mix until everything is lightly coated. Spread on cookie sheets that have been sprayed with non-fat cooking spray. Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool completely. When cool and hardened, break apart and store in an airtight container.

it's often called "white trash," and it's really just a medley of whatever you have around...chex mix, cheerios, pretzals...some starch base...then a protein/some kind of nut, and of course chocolate to complement the salt...m&ms are always colorful to throw in...you cover the mix with melted white chocolate...not so much that it's entirely a block but enough so it goes into clumps...then you're supposed to throw it in a trash bag w/ powdered sugar and shake it up, but i prefer a covered bowl for obvious reasons...delicious, but addictive...just a warning...=p

You can basically use any cereal you want or several cereals in combo. It is normally a basic combination of peanut butter and cereal, with chocolate chips, nuts, optional dried fruit, and sugar.

Several versions:

1 (12 oz.) jar creamy peanut butter
1 stick butter
1 (6 oz.) bag chocolate chips
1 (12 oz.) box Rice Chex
1 (15 oz.) box raisins
1 (16 oz.) jar roasted peanuts
1 box confectioners' sugar

Mix peanut butter, butter and chocolate pieces over low heat until melted. Cool. In large container, mix cereal, raisins and nuts. Pour chocolate mixture over dry ingredients, mix well. Add sugar. Toss well.

TRASH

4 c. Corn Chex
4 c. Rice Chex
4 c. pretzels
2 c. cocktail peanuts
Almond bark vanilla
