mustafa - "hours home alone, thinking" UM, maybe thats the problem pal, get out of the HOUSE - you and Georgie should take a trip to New York and play in the 12 feet of snow there! This is one global storm that might just destroy the little piggie American's house... think about that.

CO2 emmisions should be legally curbed and violators shut down permanently.

God, I hope we will act SOON...like 30 years ago. I am embarrassed to be an American sometimes and this is one reason why. George Bush is an incompetent moron who couldn't even run a small company, much less an entire country. He's also a shameless criminal. He is 'big oil' defined but, even so, doesn't HE love HIS children, too? You can't spend money if you don't have a planet to live on. Nothing operates independently of a habitable planet. Maybe the politicians will figure that out before it's too late...if it's isn't already. Let's just hope congress can compensate for Bush's incredible lack of thinking skills. There will be hundreds of global warming rallies on April 14th. Get out and let your concerns be known!

Of course they will, and in effect they have already begun. The US is a democracy, which means that for any sitting government to change legislature, increase taxes or reduce the average standard of living to reduce carbon emssions, while still retaining power, the decision has to be one that will be accepted by the population. In essence, this means that once public concern reaches a certain level, either the Democrats will win an election, or the Republicans will have to adjust their stance to retain voters. Either choice will be a step in the direction of reducing carbon emissions.
Public awareness is increasing, as seen by the increasing number of questions on Yahoo!Answers, hence the process has begun.

There is nothing to act on. Factories go through measures to make smoke 98% clean, fuel efficiency is on the rise. Global warming is on the rise because of increased solar activities. Recent studies show that cosmic rays contribute to cloud formation. The government of the czech republic came out today calling global warming a myth. The people who claim global warming is man made disregard the medeival warming period. Read about bristlecone pines in the gathering of CO2 measurements.

In short, there is really nothing to act on. Yes, you can get off of foreign oil, but that's a security issue, not a global warming issue.

(If any act needs to be taken, perhaps al gore should sell 3 of his four houses, start taking public transit, and stop riding around in private jets to promote his movie)

No. Any actions the US ever takes will be superficial at best.

There is no reason to act on them. The whole thing is hogwash and misinformation. I firmly believe that.

And what "act" is the US supposed to take? "Global warming" has been happening for the last 9,000+ years. And guess what? Once that's over (don't tell anyone....it's a secret) it's gonna... FREEZE! It's called an "ice age". Say it with me....
