Interesting question....

I personally think that, everything we read should just be reference because how each person interepets what's been read is always different. Most things written in the bible, we can't relate to today, that's why we should just adapt the bible as a source where we can have a reference that affirms our faith.

I mean if someone believes everything that's written just because they're afraid, they have a misconception about what having faith is about. What we do in public often contradicts to what we trully feel, and yet God knows everything we do or feel, inside out, so it'd be silly to believe in the bible just because we'd be afraid to offend HIM, after all the bible isn't written by HIM. The bible is a compilation of writings, of each persons' interpretations and interaction of an incident with God. I think that's why in the bible we are given a few different views of an incident. I think the idea is to allow us, to see the whole picture in a lot of different angles.

It's the message and principles that we should adapt to. There are a lot of things i still can't adapt to, and maybe i won't be able to until i die, but I guess that's what being human is all about. Making the best and learning the most out of our journey in life. It's the journey that matters the most, not where we end up :)

You can't believe everything in the bible it condicts its self everywhere. Anyone who says they do has not read the whole bible.

Also, the bible has be translated and re-written so many times you truly don't know what to believe. There are also lost books of the bible so... if you haven't read them you don't know what to say you believe, but they have been re-written too. Also through time the bible has been added on to. For example the last part of Rev. Do not add or re-write, that was added on in the Middle Ages by a king so that everyone would be afraid to believe anything that is not in the bible.

*If you don't believe me on any this do a little research. Hey you're on the internet right now anyways right?*

I am of the opinion that the Bible is perfect in principle, and whether or not anything except the death and resurrection of Christ happened is rather inconsequential. I do believe that a lot of it happened, though I definitely see some poetic/allegorical elements in various stories throughout the Old Testament, such as the Tower of Babel and the story of Jonah.

Think about it: what if Jonah didn't really get swallowed by the fish? It changes nothing about what you should learn from the story. In a strictly logical sense, think of it like "if a, do b, else do b". Either way, the result is the same.

The Bible is ALL 100% staight-through truth. That is just all there is to it.If you only believe the Bible because you dont want to go to Hell, well, you arent really a Christian now are you?...I have RESPECT for Jesus but I believe the Bible because it is true!

And i didnt see a name but someone said if Jesus knew how you were using the Bible...Well,Jesus knows everythng. And he probably is ashamed of the ppl that are doing that

To those who believe the Bible is 100% infallible:

The bible commands Christians to kill a pigeon and sprinkle its blood on an altar if you have touched an unclean animal.

Do you take that advice as much to heart as your prejudice against gay people?

The bible condones slavery.

Should we accept human traffickers over homosexuals?

The Bible is a guide for people living in a world 2,000 years away. You purport to follow it unquestioningly but you don't; until you find a passage that allows you to to condemn someone who has different values to you.

Unmeasured, fundamental Christians turn my stomach. And if Jesus knew how you were using the Bible to cause division and hate, he'd be mortified.

The Bible contains a lot of things that I find hard to believe, especially in the Old Testament. I think it's foolish to accept something in a book on blind faith, so I understand your question and empathize with you. I think if Christianity is the true revelation of God, then small things like this hopefully won't matter. I think it's far more important to live a moral, Christ-like life.

Many precious and pure things have been taken from the Bible through its centuries of existence. Of course, I do not believe all that is in the Bible we use today. However, the power of discernment (knowing and recognizing right and wrong) gives me the ability to figure out what might have been polluted.

I believe everything in the bible is 100% truth.

Facts may be changed to teach the truth.

I don't subscribe to the 100% literal aspect of the Bible, but if I had to choose to believe all of it or believe none of it, I'd believe all of it.

Jesus spoke in parables, so it's entirely possible (actually quite likely I believe) that others did as well.
