My 17 year old daughter had neupogen injections for the 10 nights following her chemo treatment and I am not sure if she was just lucky, but she had absolutely no side effects at all from it.

She had the injections for 1 full year and never had a problem with the injections.

Good luck.

I did 14 years ago when I had cancer. I don't remember any side effects that came from the neupogen. I just remember having to rotate the injections among by thighs and triceps.

If you read the brochure, there is a ton of different side effects for any medication. But the most common side effect, and probably the worst you're likely to experience, is bone pains. Neupogen is a growth factor to stimulate your bone marrow to produce white blood cells. So when it works, for some reason the bones hurt.

The biggest complaint I have recieved from my cancer pts who recieve Neupogen is joint pain after the injections. The Oncologist know it is a side effect and suggest Tylenol (acetaminophen) to treat the discomfort.

a little achy in the arm where the shot is given but usually you feel some better within about 36-48 hrs unless blood counts are very low in which case recovery will be a little slower.

Allergic reactions are possible but fairly rare.

Somethimes allergic reations (rash over the whole body, shortness of breath, wheezing, dizziness, swelling around the mouth or eyes, fast pulse, and sweating). Spleen may become enlargen and in rare instances may rupture (pain in your left upper stomach area or left shoulder rip area).

But generally well tolerated...!
