Counseling is seeking advice from a person who has compassion as the only motive for aiding the seeker, who is removed enough from the seeker's needful situation to give the wisest answer possible, and who has enough training in the helping professions to be able to give an actual wise answer in place of opinion.

Counselling is confidentiality,a special form of communication,it requires the counsellor to be a good listener and it is based on empowerment.It is guided by theories of the causes of problems,and how they should be helped.
