I'm seriously worried about my eating habits. I can't stop eating. I always feel hungry. I know that it is linked to emotional, I eat chocolate and nice food to make myself happy because nothing else does but I don't know how to stop it. Does anyone have any advice for a way to stop my chocolate cravings? something I can do to distract myself. It's driving me mad. The thing is I am gaining more weight than I should be too because I get a lot of exercise, I have been tested for thyroid but awaiting the results. I feel so fat and hideous but that makes me depressed so I eat. Any advice would be so welcome.

I would call you "sugar sensitive" rather than saying you have an eating disorder. Sugar sensitive people can't stop eating- it has to do with their brain, and how sugars trigger a reaction in their brains.

"You may feel depressed and find yourself craving foods such as bread, pasta or candy. This craving is the work of your brain, not your ego, because your brain knows that getting you to eat such foods will temporarily raise your serotonin level. Unfortunately, it will also have a devastating boomerang effect and cause all sorts of negative feelings."

Distracting yourself isn't going to work-- you need to detox off all sugars and balance your body with the right foods.

It sounds like you are in a vicious cycle. You need to try and lift yourself out of the doldrums, try and do things that make you happy as much as possible. Diet wise Chromium supplements may help, they regulate the bodies sugar levels and help prevent sugar cravings.

Don't assume that you are putting on more weight than you should, iit's a lot easier to eat calories than it is to burn them off, it takes a vast amount of exercise to burn off excess calories, although it is possible that you do have a thyroid imbalance.

Wait until you have the results of your test and if it comes up negative try the Chromium, also writing down everything that you eat for a week can sometimes be a really good wake up call.

You will not change your habits if you cannot control your emotions and begin to love yourself for who you are! Compulsive overeating would be an attempt to "stuff down" emotions of anger, unhappiness, lonliness. Mark's suggestion for styles of meals can definitely help, it is perplexing to way overeat in case you're filling up on wholesome finished grains & greens, lean meats. severe carb, sugary, fatty meals no longer in trouble-free terms reason weight earnings, and cravings for greater, yet in addition act like a drug. once you're overstuffed on cake, you sense torpid, sleepy, and much less probable to sense despite emotion you're attempting to make flow away.
