Living room...because people can be coming over!! Then your bathroom!! Because it really needs cleaned!! And then your bedroom...then your whole house!! Maybe you should hire someone if it's that bad!!

I most likely would start with the living room, because it is the first room anyone sees when they come into the house. Then I would work on the bathroom, because it is almost inevitable that if you have someone over, they will have to use the bathroom. Once those rooms are all tidied up, I'd say it's safe to move onto the bedroom. If you're like me, it's the most cluttered and will take the longest. Be brave and throw things out or give them away...give to Goodwill. If you can't bear to throw things out because you spent good money on them, then set them aside for a yard sale. Remember, less is better. Nic nacs are a great source of clutter and collect too much dust. Thin them down and maybe even get rid of them completely. Good rule of thumb I use on stored things is if I haven't used it within a year, it's gone! I've been the world's worst pack rat and have learned the hard way. Happy cleaning!><>

Expecting company? Perhaps the Ladies Auxilary, or the Preacher, or - GASP! - MOM? If so, then I will agree whole-heartedly with Sylvia W (first poster). If you're just wanting to get a grip on your domicile, reverse the order, and start by changing those sheets (yeah, it's been awhile, huh?) and make up that bed.

Now, after you've taken care of that intial cleaning, make it a habit to spend 5 minutes - yes, just 5 is at all it takes - in each room every day. This will take care of that "clutterization" effect. When time allows, that's when you do a good CLEANING of the room without having all the clutter in the way.

Now, back to Sylvia's recommendation: It's not a bad idea to bring in a professional service a couple of times a year to give the place a super sparkle. They have the equipment and know-how to put a cleaning on things that you could never do. And they don't even mind if you relax in the recliner watching TV while trying to pick out the good chocalates from the Valentine's candy.

I like to start in the bedroom because it is the best to tear apart without messing up the rest of the house. Then I work my way out from there. Nothing seems clean until the bed is made! As for the bathroom, I do that when my son is taking a bath because he likes to stay in there so long and I cant leave him. I get bored so I clean the bathroom.

Now the living room is something I would do last because there is really no clutter there. Just DVDs that need to be put away each time my son changes his mind about what he wants to watch!

If you are expecting company, the living room should probably be first. But if it is just "to get it done", then you should start with the smallest, simplest room first. This will get you into the process without overwhelming you, teach you a few things early on, and give you a much-needed sense of satisfaction right away, which will help give you the push to do more. So, I'd vote for the bathroom, then the bedroom, then the living room. Good luck!

The Living Room. It's the first room people see when they come over and first impressions are important. The bathroom is equally important, though, because guests will most likely have to go in there too. Your bedroom is pretty much your business, though, so it could wait, but definitely the Living Room and bathroom should be clean, or at least clean enough. Your house doesn't need to be a museum,or anything (mine isn't :p); just decent.

In which room do you spend the most time? Are you expecting guests? If so I would do the living room and bathroom, and shut the bedroom door. The best way to clean is turn on some music, and carry a basket of supplies, and put a large laundy basket on the floor. That way you have all your cleaning supplies handy, and you don't have to leave the room. Everything that does not belong in the room your in, goes into the laundry basket, untill you've tackled the mess, and you're ready to move on to the next room. I find if I leave the room, I get distracted, and start cleanig in the next room, and the next, untill finally I feel overwelmed, and QUIT! Good luck!

There really is no correct answer to your question. Personally I suggest the room visitors see first, then 2nd and the last.
1. Living Room 2.Bath 3.Bedroom
If you entertain in the bedroom then do it first. ( just a little joke to put a smile on your face)

Living room first, then bathroom, then bedroom. Do them in the order that people will see them.

Will you come declutter mine when you are done? I have the same problem!
