serious question - I don't want a lecture about my drinking habits, but trying to calorie count to lose a few pounds before the summer - is going out drinking a couple of times a week going to totally scupper this? I drink vodka and diet coke so not beer or anything really bad, but I like going out drinking and unfortunately I'm not talking just 1 or 2!! Is there any point me dieting and exercising - am I ruining it all with alcohol, or might it still work?

its not going to help you with your diet but you are doing good if you drink vodka and diet coke, as long as you excercise well and eat the right foods then you will be ok. dont drink every night and dont eat late at night when ya get home after a session.
ive the same problem except i love my pints but if u keep it 2 3 nights a week you will do ok! you wont lose it as quick as u would hope but u will soon see the pounds drop off ya!

If you are exercising and eating right 1 or 2 days won't hurt. In my glory days of lifting, which I am working on getting back to now, I used to drink once or twice a week to the point of being 3 sheets to the wind and I still had a six pack. I always woke up the next day and worked it off.

The craziest thing I have ever seen was these monsterous meatheads in cancun injecting each others arses in the pharmacy and washing down pills with beer.

If you burn more calories than you consume then you will lose weight. Make sure that you dance all night, and keep the action in the bedroom when you get home - and before long you'll look like a fit lean fat-reduced drinking machine.

If your body is used to you drinking, doing exercise will help. You should just burn more calories than others if you drink a lot. You are going to see changes if you exercise, it isnt like you will get bigger if you start to exercise. Its not logical. You will be burning more calories than you do now so you will lose weight.

You are ruining it with the alcohol, yes. And the calories come from the alcohol. So drinking vodka with diet coke is just as bad as drinking beer.

You do know you are an alcoholic if you binge drink..........right?

Try dieting without drinking alcohol. If you can't do it and/or find yourself thinking about drinking all the time....or if when you do drink you can't have just 1-2.......then you are an alcoholic.

The problem with drinking is that it can raise your triglycerides to dangerous levels. I'm not sure about the calorie issue, but that much alcohol several times a week is just not good for you period. Your looking at a bigger problem than just calories and weight. Your looking at liver disease and cirrhosis.

On the atkins diet you can safely drink spirits & diet mixers as they don't contain carbs. It will however slow down your weight loss & make it take longer to shed those lovehandles.
