Like Felicity said it is againist the law to kill a Polar bear, they are protected by the UN & WWF as an endangered species, I worked in Iqaluit, in Nunavit, in the north of Canada, as a chef in a 2 star hotel, we sold venison, caribou, seal, narwal and wild ptarmigan, but no bear of any kind, one of the few meats I never tried.

It is, as told to me is a strong very gamey meat, and needs alot of cooking and marinating, in my 20 yrs as a chef in Canada and Jamaica, I had everything from A-Z, from musk ox in canada, Rattlesnake in the US and Frog skin with a funky fish/pepper sauce in Thailand, bear would be a nice treat but not very easy to get at the local SuperSave.

well they would eat people if there were any people there. Actually researchers often run into trouble with the bears because they have little or no fear of humans. This is because they seldom run into them. Some bears probably live their entire lives without seeing a human. They simply never learn that a human can shoot them. In the areas where polar bears and people do interact, humans are occasionally hunted and killed for food. I posted this elsewhere but I will say it again here. It is a myth that polar bears are the only bear that deliberately hunt humans. Grizzlies, other browns and even the black bear has been known to hunt, kill and eat humans. The only difference in that is that polar bears are less likely to learn that humans are dangerous. Thus fewer will run from humans.

That is true, in a way - you can eat all of the meat in a polar bear, except for its liver, because the Vitamin A levels are so high that it would kill you

The bit you eatmay not kill you, but the rest of the animal might, if you don't make sure it's dead first.
A polar bear is a big white unforgiving killing machine, with huge fangs and four inch claws.
Capable of ripping your ribcage off in one swipe.
If you are that hungry, and come accross one, you can assess its state by going up to it and shouting 'Hoy' down it's ear.
If you walk away, then it's probably dead, if it isn't, then you may be the one with the irrefusable invitation to dinner.
Fortunately, it's been several years since we had polar bears in North Wales

You can eat polar bear meat it won't kill you as your friend said but since it is an exotic food to you you could get sick from it the first time you eat of it.

Total garbage. Eskimos have consumed polar bear meat since the beginning of time. They also use the fur and waste nothing.

polar bears can't get bird flu, salmonella or anything that the scaremongers in government tell you about. probably the only thing that would kill you is if you left a claw in the succulent paw meat!!
