I would recommend using unlocking software which is available on eBay for around £5. You will need either your car's chassis number (printed on the V5 logbook) or the serial number printed on the side of the radio depending which version it is. Each radio has its own unique code so there is no other way of doing this, although I would take a look through all the docs that came with the car as the previous owner may have written it somewhere such as in the audio guide.

OK that message normally comes up after the battery has been disconnected and you should have a radio card in the service pack to allow you to re-enter it. The information on how to do this is in the service maintenance booklet

It all the above fails then you might be able to get it from the original selling dealer if they still have the Rover records

If that fails most local garages have the facility to get radios decoded. This is a simple operation to remove the radio have it decoded and refit it. Normally should not take more than a day or two and cost no more than £15 or so

Good luck

sticking it in the freezer does NOT work. there are places were you can get them decoded which costs a tenner, are you in the UK as Trents decodes them. or in your manual about the stereo there will be the stereo code (usually 4 digits) enter that code.. if not then go to Rover main dealer.
Remember you only have 3 or 4 attempts or it will lock!

Sorry but there will be a different code for each stereo, yours will have it's VERY OWN

buy Autotrader - or look for free in a shop. In the back you will find places that will de-code the radio for you, for about (i think) £15

ring up a rover dealer and give them the chassis number of your vehicle, and thet will be able to supply a code, or take it to a car radio stockist - who can re-code them for about £20.00
It may also be written in your owners manual - if your lucky

It's different for every radio (well, every 1 in 10,000). You can (apparently) stick it in the freezer for an hour and this (supposedly) wipes the security code from the EPROM - but it's only a rumour I've heard.
