Some people see a religious benefit. As if God asked them to abstain.
Some people fear disease.
Some want to be certain they don't have kids.
Some would rather not deal with the issues involved in having a sexual relationship.
Some are painfully shy and the thought of sexual contact is overwhelming.

There's a lot of benefits for celibacy.
1. No risk of STDs or unwanted pregnancy.
2. Treating your body with respect shows that you really care about yourself.
3. Your body misses sex when you get out of a relationship.
Is this a route I would go? I'm married at this point, so no. If I ever was (for whatever reason) single again, yes, I would probably go this route for awhile. I have a son and I would not want him to suffer through Mom trying to meet somebody new and get laid.
When he was grown and out of the house, that might be a different story.

Islam does not believe in Celibacy. This goes against human nature and Depravation of Body Rights. A person can be spiritual and yet enjoy the good things in life that nature has provided. But if you wish to practise celibacy then you have the right to do so.

Celibacy for your entire life is unnatural, but don't ever sleep with people just for sex. Only have sex with someone you really love, in marriage.

the ONLY benefit that is FAR outweighed by having SEX would be that there is zero risk for STD's. But nothing in this life is better than sex.
