I know that there are a lot of people who believe that this really happened, but are there any scientific explanations for this? Or is this perhaps some sort of metaphor? It just seems a bit far-fetched to me.

The family had to leave and get on the other side of the mountain. How about a nuclear blast? That will make someone appear to be a pillar of salt. Being behind a mountain would protect from such a blast.

There are stories of nuclear-like blasts in the Mahabharata (the Gita is a book within this one - text from India).

You'd probably think this is more far-fetched...but you wanted an explaination.

(just recounting what I heard once...interesting idea)

Ironiclly, the area where she was at, the district of the Jordan, which contained the cities of Sodom , Gomorahh, and a few others, is now considered to be under the Dead Sea. There is so much salt that fish can't live in it and anything can float.

An interesting fact is that in ancient times, when a conquering army wanted to create total desolation to a ravaged town, then they would sow the ground with salt, so that nothing would grow.

It just makes sense that the Creator of the elements could alter a humans form, especially considering we already have salt in our bodies and are mostly made up of water.

While God was destroying Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his family were instructed not to look back at the cities. And of course, just like a woman (lol), she looked back. As a result, God turned her into a pillar of salt. Is this scientifically proven......no, but I think this is where "Morton" salt got their start.

How do you explain miracles scientifically? You can't, which is why God is so amazing. We can't comprehend what He does.

In Genesis, it says that God separated light and dark. Simple. But how can light and dark even be together in the first place? Why didn't God just make light and dark separate? Because He wanted to show us skeptical humans that He can do things beyond our understanding.
