That is funny that you asked. One time at my church we had a slide projected during offering that said "Invest in your eternal future." After services, I immediatly went to the Media guy and said, oh yea about that offering slide, can we not ever show that again. lol

Nope. I know exactly what you're talking about but no. Giving money to a church doesn't mean you'll get into heaven. It's not a backup plan in case you mess up or anything. That's another one of the little things man added on. I think it says it somewhere in the bible to give 10% of your earnings but that was quite a long time ago when churches were basically shacks. People took that passage and ran with it. No one can convince me that anyone needs a 20 million dollar church with a playground & snackbar. I don't buy that nor will I give them a dime. I'll just stay home and watch Dogma or something.

No, not really. It's needed to try to get some archdioceses out of bankruptcy. The legal cost of all the pedophile priests law suits are skyrocketing now that more and more victims are coming out even though some bishops are trying to convince them and their families that they will go to hell if they do.
So tith, donate whatever, keep the money flowing, the church needs it .

Sho-Nuff, no it's not like insurance. I do it because I love the Lord and want to honor Him with giving Him 10% of what He has blessed me with. Someday I'd like to reach the point where I'm living only on 10% and able to give the other 90% where He needs it.
