Joel 2:28 can be applied to peoples of all races, and it started happening at Pentecost - in Acts 2:17 the apostle Peter spoke about it.

Actually their was a striking fulfillment of Joel's prophecy(2:28)on
the day of pentecost 33 c.e. on that occasion Peter was inspired
to explain that the outpouring of God's spirit upon Christs disciples
was a fulfillment of Joel's prophecy(Acts 2:1-21)(Joel.2:28,29,32)

Joel 2: 28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: Since the USA is no where in Bible prophecy, this prophecy will be fulfilled after the church has been take off the earth and the Nation of Israel is in the tribulation period and God is dealing with them again. To understand any Bible verse always find out who it is written to. Just read verse 27 and it will tell you. Joel 2: 27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. "Israel" Don't be fooled by TV preachers.

The USA wasn't in existence when the Bible was written so the people who wrote it didn't write scripture about the United States. I believe that that particular passage applies to the people of God. In the old testament, these were the Jews but in present day, the term refers to both Jews and Christians.

That whole chapter is about the famous "End Times," which are described elsewhere; in fact, throughout the Hebrew Bible. "Israel" is mentioned, but the entire planet's population is stake, which includes US and Israel....and everyone else.

"Israel," by the way is a hard to understand term, especially if you were taught that it meant a "select few" who were the "chosen ones." The name means, "God Prevails," and we are warned about using it for ourselves in Isaiah 44: "One shall say, I am the LORD's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel."

That line is clearly saying that some people would call themselves "Israel," and making fun of them in a smart aleck kind of way. Then the chapter proceeds to chew their butts out, and ends with a mention of Cyrus, and a brief description of what he would do when he comes along.

When you understand the prophecy, which clearly says that "Israel," is the group of people who survive the catastrophe, regardless of what they called themselves before. THEY are the "chosen ones," because they chose to make an effort to understand prophecy, and God.

Quite naturally those who do will be bestowed with the gifts that made Cyrus, the Messiah; which is what the line you're questioning is about.

Regards,

Chris

Israel - blow the trumpet in Zion in vs. 1, Israel in vs 27, Jerusalem mentioned in vs 32

or - all people, worldwide.

America tends to think of itself far too highly in matters of biblical issues as a nation. Yes there are christians in the USA, but the USA is not a christian nation. There is no such thing as a christian nation.

I believe that is a general message pertaining to all mankind, although it was given to Israel at the time. The nation of Israel is now expanded to include all Christians - we are grafted into the vine through Jesus Christ.

I don't place my faith in movies, or any other books except the Bible. The previous writer is suggesting the di vinci (sp?) code as a possible reference. Please don't take your eyes off of Jesus, lest you be deceived. Yes I believe it pertains to the Jewish people but I'm no expert. God grant you wisdom.
