Im about to buy 2 cars (for really cheap!) from a guy that lived in Australia (I live here) but is now in Greece becoz of "FAMILY" + "WORK". This is basicly wat he said in his email: "Since I have no more relatives back home, I brought the car with me thinking that I could register it here. However, because of the big differences between the AU emissions and the Greece ones, I can't register it without spending a fortune. Here is what I suggest:we will use Global Pack Shipping for payment and shipping which acts like an escrow service ( www.gpshipp.com ) you make the payment in an GPS managed trust fund ( they hold the money until you receive the car ), I send the car over, you can inspect it, take it to a mechanic to check it out, drive it and then decide if you keep it or not. If, by any reason, you will not be satisfied with it ( even though I can assure you that it is exactly as described), you can return it at my expense for a full refund of your money, no questions asked" FAKE?

YES, FAKE!

This is a car sale escrow scam. The shipping company (and escrow company) is completely fake. "GPShipping was funded in 1992" but their web site was only registered on February 10! The number on that site +34 620-252-748 is a MOBILE phone in Spain -- real companies don't use cell phones to do business. They are blacklisted for fraud on a couple major anti-scam sites... all these are signs that you shouldn't trust one word these crooks say.

The seller's in on it too -- he recommended using this fake company. The cars don't exist, it's just an elaborate setup to steal your money. Stop communicating with everybody involved in this deal immediately.

I would be wary about Internet deals like this. If he is Australian, he should have an australian bank account.

I find it strange that a some guy can try to ship a car from australia to greece. I believe that greece is a right-hand drive country, while a car registered in australia would most certainly be left-hand drive. (see http://www.brianlucas.ca/roadside/ ) also shipping cost between australia and greece would be horrendous.

I run a used car website in Singapore ( http://www.classads.com.sg/ClassAutos.aspx ) and regularly (like every day !!) get emails from prople in far flung areas interested to buy my used cars. You know they are fakes coz obviously, no one want to buy my left hand drive cars in those countries.

This is beyond fake. If you are very far into this I had a similar issue. Contact you local FBI and they will assist you in them contacting and dealing with the rest. Do not send them any money.
