I answered this question sometime ago from another asker. Whatever you do, don't encourage it. It only makes it worse. We thought it was cute to play with a flashlight with our dog. It wasn't severe, but it got to the point where he was walking through the house and actually distracted by any type of reflection.

Cairns are known for their outgoing, playful characteristics.
Terriers were orginially bred to hunt vermin, so they are very feisty dogs in general.
I doubt there is much you can do about this as it's in her nature to chase things.

this is natural for a cairn , I had one for 11 yrs she passed last yr after many delightfull times with her . I still miss her playfullness and her feistiness . i hope she is resting in peace . good luck and enjoy her .

It is natural for dogs to bark and chase any thing which is not familiar to them This is out of fear.Tie her near a place where light and shadows appear.she will get used to it.otherwise also don't bother.

i have a dashound and he does the same thing.we have a lazer light and we play with him with it, he likes it very much and is so fun to watch.
