With the information you provided, you are definitely 1/8th indian since your great grandmother is full blooded. (You have 8 great grandparents) . I can't determine what the rest of your lineage is based on what you have told us.

This evidently makes you very confused.. lol.. and me too. You are talking native american I guess? and not Indian from India. You are saying great grandma 100% native american .. some more NA and some more NA and suddenly you are African American. If you like you can email me or you could adjust your question so we all can have at it and try to figure out what it is you actually want to know..
IE.. great grand mother is 100% native american.. great grandfather is ____% native american and ____% what,
grand mother is ___% native american, and ____% what? grand father is ______% native american, and ____ %what?
mother is ____% native american and ____ % what ?
father is _____% native american and _____ % what?
The most important question is.. WHO is the native american that you are related to and what tribe? (name age and location) this will be asked of you if you want to join any tribe or want legitimate recognition. You will also be asked for a DNA sample to help verify your line of descent in the relative family line.
Ask the person who told you that your great grandmother was 100% native american.. maybe they can help with some information. Keep asking relatives for names and info til you have gotten every scrap of information you can. Keep it in a notebook and keep adding any little crumb you can find. make a note of who gave the info to you and their name age and location and if they are related to you.. what is the relationship. You will have some starting point for later more serious searching when you do it and your family will have something of a keepsake from you to future children etc. when YOU are the great grandmother. :)
Now if we assume that greatgrandma was 100% NA and greatgrandfather was 100% African American then Grandma would be only 50% NA.. if we assume Grandfather is 100% African American.. then Mother is 25% NA, if we assume that Father is 100% African American that makes you 12 1/2 % (or 1/8 Native American .. not much to crow about, but it is interesting. sooo If your relative is just jiving you because you look a little like an NA then forget it and start looking for your African American roots and who knows.. you may find you have many ethnic backgrounds in your blood line including NA. Keep the Faith Little Dancing Otter. I wish you much success in your searching. (hugs)

First you need to know what your great grandfathers nationality is. If he was full blooded indian then the next generation is full blooded Indian. If he was not indian the next generation is half Indian. Then you need to determine the nationality all the generations before you.

there are several companies that will help you determine this if your willing to spend the money. it's between $300-400. they take a dna sample from your grandmother, your mother, and you. i don't know if this possible for you to do, but recently my grandmother had it done and included my mother and my youngest sister. she got a lot of good information back from it. it would be worth your time and money if you had the ability to do so.
