I have a gas/wood burning fireplace. There is a gas burner in the bottom under the grate for the wood. we just put the wood on the grate, turn on the gas, and light the burner. When the wood is burning well on it's own, we shut off the gas. That way you don't have to use a lot of kindling wood if your logs are dry. It also helps getting logs to burn that are not split. Also, if your wood is a little green, sometimes your fire slows down and doesn't burn well. You can use the gas burner to boost it a little until it burns well.

yes there is a gas wood burning fireplace but the wood is fake I have an electric one but they make them in gas also

Yeah, our is a gas fire place. My grandparents have a pellet fireplace. They put these pellets that look like rabbit food in. It's pretty weird looking.

you can only have one or the other you can have a gas and get it switched over to wood burning or vice versa, but you can't have both

ppl have one or the other....burning real wood can get messy with alot of ashes and wood chips on the rug....i will get a gass one at some point when Im older..
