Τhermos (Θερμός) =hot, warm
Polis (Πόλις) = city => Thermopolis
Pyla/pyli (Πύλη) =entrance => Thermopylae
Yes, it's pyli if it means entrance (To be exact, the -η suffix is transfered to latin as -a, (In certain situations in ancient greek, -α becomes -η), and -ae is the plural ending. I don't know if Πύλα was used a lot meaning entrance, but Pyla seems to be a medical term, also).

As I was driving past Wake Forest University yesterday, I had a sudden realization that all the Asian chicks I see walking around that campus are, well, not very attractive (at least to me they're not). Since this school has high admission standards, I guess they hot slutty ones couldn't get in.

It does mean "hot city". "entrance" may simply mean "entrance to a city".
