You can't deduct commuting expenses on you tax return. That said you need to talk with your employer about them adopting a qualified transportation fringe benefit plan. Such a plan allows employees to pay for public transportation and parking with pre-tax dollars.

If you are using them to commute from home to work and back, then no, commuting expenses aren't deductible. The only time you could take them is if you're taking the bus to client sites for your business.

I don't know if you can claim them on your taxes, but I know with certain car insurance companies you can get a percentage off of your comprehensive total if you mail in all of your bus passes. If you have car insurance, check with your company to see if you can benefit from it.
