There are several workarounds to this problem ... I've no doubt you will receive such suggestions from other respondents, however .....
If it were my PC I would just backup my personal data, format each partition & start from scratch.....this will be the inevitable end solution.
Having the OS on a logical partition works but performance is compromised & some programs will not work or install properly.
Re-install the OS you want on a clean hard drive & get it over with.

Go to My computer ->right click ->disk manage.
Locate H. Right click on H.
Format H only . (careful........!!)
Now, you got rid of the installation in H.
Install the preferred OS in C. It will overwrite the existing OS, but it does not destroy it. You have to give "Yes" answer when prompted during install.
Sounds like You have 2 DVD drives or a CD and DVD combo plus one external HDD and then a partitioned second HDD with drive letter H.

It's impossible that everything you do goes to both places. You have to format the H partition. Then format C and after that install Win XP. Then you can use the H partition for your stuff. So it will be more organized.

At this point, you should re-install Windows XP and complete erase your hard disk when prompted as to where to install it. Create one large empty partition and start fresh!
Good luck!

You could just delete all of the files on your C drive and use it with XP on your H...

There are reward in having multi working structures on a single problematiccontinual. I used to have domicile domicile windows ninety 8, and XP as a results of actuality i had to play video games on one, and do severe stuff on the countless. regardless of the shown actuality that, Win98 isn't supported and it has challenge with IE7 (won't run) so I put in 2 XP working structures. the only rationalization for it relatively is commonly, you prefer to run activity utility although the act of uninstalling them can in many cases make the OS very volatile. in case you put in XP devoid of overiding the winning one, then you definately fairly've 2 working structures yet basically you would be able to boot at startup, there will be a black exhibit interface with selection besides one or the countless. you ought to no longer get actual of get admission to to information and classes on the countless OS if it has no longer booted. you would be able to create a 0.33 partition in case you meant to get actual of get admission to to the information stored there, and accessed from the two OS. in case you run XP and stored in my information, you will no longer be able to have get actual of get admission to to mutually as working 2000 and the partition with the XP on it relatively is hidden. you have much less section left over on your problematiccontinual as a results of actuality of two structures, plus residual information created. in case you prefer to share information, create a partition, and determine that it is not NTFS, yet fats 32 as domicile domicile windows 2000 won't see NTFS. you will pick a great problematiccontinual, around120Gb upwards as a results of actuality you would be able to enable a separate partition to maintain your information. Use a 0.33 social gathering utility to administration partitioning mutually with Partition Magic (now shrink than symantec). Having a 0.33 partition for information avoids the ought to lose information stored in the two OS partitions.
