Hi, I was induced at 37 weeks with our first child due to pre eclampsia. Routine blood tests and blood pressure tests were taken when I first went in to hospital, then I was given a pessary gel every 6 hrs to bring on contractions. I was given this 3 times in total before my labour got going. I must say, the contractions were more painful than with my other two children but the labour wasn't any more drawn out than in other pregnancies. I know some woman are induced with an oxytocin drip in their arm as well to speed things along. All in all, I wouldn't worry, the only downside I found is that I wanted to go into labour at home and wait there for the first stage of labour as I dont like waiting around in hospital - but looking back, what did that matter really when my baby arrived healthily and safely? Make sure you take plenty of books, music, snacks etc as it can be quite drawn out and thats before you even experience any contractions!
