I was a christian for a long time after I came out that I was gay. The bible has like alot fewer verses teaching against homosexuality then it does teaching against heterosexuality.. well not against it, but against what hetero's can or can not do. My choice to change religions had nothing to do with my sexuality. There were some who prayed for me, and preached at me. But none of it made any sense.. Its like a double standard. For example ok take just a person being a homosexual, that gets preached at, prayed for , sent to hell, and all this other stuff that is told. however you have the bible teaching AGAINST adultry, sex before marriage, one man or woman lusting over anothers husband or wife. etc.. even divorce.. when do you see or rather how often do you see someone trying to cast a hetero into hell, because he/she cheated on their spouse? or had sex before marriage, gotten pregnant and had the child out of wedlock?

If it is so wrong then how is it that some churches agree's with homosexuality? Why is it that some pastors open their arms and church up to a homosexual and not trying to cast this person to hell? Are these churches and pastors going to hell because they accepted a person with a different sexuality into their church?

I have also heard some christians say that it is ok to be a homosexual as long as you do not ACT on it.. meaning you can be gay all you want because thats who you are, but you have to marry a person of the opposite sex, have sex with someone of the opposite sex. but its still ok to be gay...whats up with this??

Please stand corrected agnostica. The Bible says "God does not want anyone to parish but to come to the knowledge of the truth. God wants us all to be saved, to be in His everlasting kingdom. That's why He sent His only son Jesus to die for the sins of the entire world, no matter your sexual orientation. Now getting to the question. You can find out what the will of God is for man by reading and studying the scriptures contained within the Bible. There are several scriptures that deal with this matter, two of them I know of right off the top. They are located in the book of Leviticus which is the third book in the Old Testiment, and in the book of Romans chapter 1 which is the sixth book in the New Testament. Pray and read these passages. For someone that is openly gay, this may not contradict their belief in God. However our goal is to become more like Christ in every area of our lives. God bless.

In our Church teaching draws a distinction between the urges and the practices. My understanding of that is that we do not condone homosexual acts but do not condemn people for what they are tempted by. I am not sure how open that allows someone to be. For example, I am sure it would not go over well if a man wore a dress to attend Mass. I personally do not worry about how imperfect others are because I am messed up in my own ways and want to spend my time making myself better. I believe that this approach to be like the idea of not picking splinters out of your neighbors eye when you have a log in your own and also the whole"judge not lest ye be judged" idea.

I believe if they have truly accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they will start a long journey that will take them away from their homosexual lifestyle.

If they believe in God, and have accepted His Son, Jesus the Christ; they will receive the Holy Spirit and they will begin to live according to the teaching of Jesus, if they allow the Holy Spirit to guide their lives.

Those that believe in the Father in heaven and His Son Jesus the Christ are guaranteed a place in heaven regardless of what they have been able to overcome in their lives, but since there is no male or female in heaven they will not be practicing homosexuality in heaven.
To some that may be like living in hell.

Of course there is a major contradiction, homosexuality is an abomination in God's sight always has been - always will be, one cannot claim to be a follower of God and saved if they continually practice sexual immorality, Through Pauls letters we are told to FLEE sexual immorality. God has not changed his views and remember - under levitical law homosexuality was punishable by stoning to death. It is man who tries to misinterpret scripture or avoid scripture that condemns the worldly acts they desire to keep. While a homosexual may believe in God, they do not follow God because they, by their own volition, choose to contnue in their perceive fleshly pleasure with blatant disregard for God's commandments thereby maintining an unrepentant state. One cannot serve two masters, to be friends with the world is to be enimies of God. But its not just gays that make this choice - there are others that choose to claim faith in God but practice worldly ways and live in an unrepentant state. To claim fath in God and salvation but to choose to live in a perpetual unrepentant state is a major contradiction.

Sin- any sin- separates us from the relationship that God wants us to have with Him. The Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality is sin. I haven't met any openly gay people that I would descirbe as content. To be homosexual and consider yourself Christian, you have to purposely rationalize or ignore every Scripture that describes homosexuality as sin.

Maybe not their belief, but they should accept that in God's view they are doing a terrible sin. There is no way to jusify homosexuality in the bible. It is openly condemned and unaccpetable. If someone were gay they should know that God doesn't want them in his kingdom until they change their behavior.

I think it's very clear in the Holy Bible that God is not happy with any sexual behavior that is not between a married couple, husband and wife. This also includes adultery, lust and bestiality to name a few.

May God Bless you.

The bible do say that a homosexual can not get into heaven and I say God made "Adam and Eve", Not "Adam and Steven" or "Abby and Eve".
