Why is soo terrifying for me to go to parties?

I was fine when I went to this party and the college kids from my school were there, but after a while I got extremely uncomfortable and everything felt surreal. I drank a little. I felt like I didn't belong there. I felt like crying and finding my quickest way out of there. I didn't want people to get to know the real me. I'm persian, but I have never had persian friends. I don't consider myself american or persian. At times I feel misplaced. I can not be wild and crazy like many of these kids are. It's not in me. Being in the music world, people are usually very open and experimental. I shouldn't have gone to this party. I have no one I can relate to whenever I go to these places. I don't trust the guys. They can at times greatly scare me also. I don't trust them. There are a few I trust, those who are not a part of this party scene. I can not be what is considered to be normal and cool. I am not a great actor like them nor can I bs it.

I'm worried about what the college kids are going to think about me when I see them again. I see them in most of my classes. Should I say that I was drunk?******************

I think, you should go & talk to a counselor or therapist.
They would help you sort out your feelings. It sounds like you have free floating anxiety. Once you figure out why this is happening to you, you'll feel better.

If you feel like you don't belong at parties where there are a lot of people and everybody is acting crazy it is o.k. It doesn't mean you are not cool or normal. As a matter of fact you are probably better off staying away from that kind of environment anyway. Be where you feel most comfortable. If it is a party where there is drinking and possibly drugs, most of those people are not being themselves anyway. They will act one way to you at the party and then a completely different way the next time they see you or they may not even recognize you at all because they drank too much. You have every right not to trust the guys at these parties. It is a healthy distrust. Take an inventory of the friends that you have and be thankful true friendships. Then take the initiative and plan things for the weekends like game night, open mic night, maybe dinner with friends, going to movies. Feeling uncomfortable at parties like that don't mean there is anything wrong with you. You sound like the type of person who gets overwhelmed by big crowds. Some people like that environment and some people don't. That's o.k. I hope this helps.

Could it be you have xenophobia, the fear of strangers? It is some sort of social phobia. You feel that you are misplaced and you don't belong there. You can ask a friend to go for you or take the party as a way to learn how to make friends. After all, most of the people at the party can't remember what you say because they were high with liquor. You'd be forgiven if you say something wrong or do something stupid.

I think you are forcing yourself to adopt a lifestyle which does not fit your personality and values. You are being overtaken by a peer pressure and this is why you seem to be acting like this. As you just stated out, you feel that this is not your world and believe me, if you follow you heart, you will find your way home. To be persian or american is not the real issue. But to be yourself indeed is. Maybe you have got too many events that affected your life and you are a little lost. Trust yourself and re affirm your belief in the one and only God, he will surely help you out. Remember that God said, ' No ones state can be changed except they change it themselves' This is not a verbatim quote but its the whole idea.

Dont force yourself to be what your are not. You want to integrate yourself in the group, as k yourself some questions first, like the benefit you will get from them. I guess they will affect you more negatively than positive since they like to party and drink.

May God help you find your way out of this.

You might have a social anxiety or phobia if you always feel this surreal feeling and discomfort in all groups.

Then again, you seem to be sensing that these are not your type of people to be around, and perhaps you should trust your intuition.
Especially if it's only with this group or type of people that you feel uncomfortable.

Just don't go to them. Parties aren't for everyone and parties are definitely not the only way to have fun or be "cool"

it sounds like you might have an anxiety disorder, i'd talk this over with a health care professional - especially if this happens (even to a lesser degree) in other places

Just be yourself and try to rationalize why you are feeling the way you feel.......follow your inner voice.
If it becomes to difficult, speak to a professional
