The reasons that administrators give for them being NECESSARY include:
* Students feel more "equal" (poor students don't get picked on)
* It's an easy dress code, you don't have to worry about students wearing inappropriate attire
* You can distinguish students that belong to the school from people roaming through campus
* Keeps students from becoming distracted because focus is not on clothes

These are just a few.. I'm sure there are more. Not that I'm a supporter/anti-supporter of uniforms!

They are unnecessary because as a child most children were taught to be individuals and by enforcing these unnecessary uniforms it breaks apart everything most have been raised by. I myself are confused at this topic and it will not stop gang violence because believe me, they will find a way to promote their gang and make it shown.

+ It promotes equality and doesn't allow you to be yourself.
+ They expect everyone to fit into a mold that they have planned, and the students get on say in it.

If you DO have to get uniforms, suggest a student design competition.

it teaches kids to conform! and not have their own thoughts...

plus if the kids get so used to wearing the same, frumpy thing everyday, they might be uncomfortable in clothes that actually have color, or style, or any fun at all!
