I have recently been to the Antigua and stayed with my mother in law who owns a timeshare, I was impressed at with the price of buying a week- cheapest week £3,000 for a red week and one bedroom apartment that sleeps 6. Because we are a family of 4 and my kids are classed as adults (are over 12 years) I have found holidays abroad we have to book two rooms and pay occupancy surcharges etc and thought buying a timeshare would be a good way to holiday.
Seems good quality appartments, and we can all stay in one appartment.

I would probably like to bank and exchange my week to use elsewhere and RCI have explainted I would be able to do this.

Does anyone have the same problems booking holidays with two older kids and is this a good way of holidaying?

We would like tio go to Florida at some point and I would like to exchange the week to use there?

To me, it seems time share is not cost effective at all. You have to pay yearly and monthly fees, and are limited to one time frame and location if you don't want the headache of trying to change it.

If you count up the yearly costs, I'll bet you could take a lot of nice vacations for the same price, even if you did have to rent two rooms! And there are usually condos or homes for rent at most vacation spots if you need more room.

I would really do some research before buying into a time share.

Hi
I have owned a time-share for a number of years now, and have also joined RCI, and exchanged to America and various sites in the Cararies. There is a charge with RCI when you exchange weeks depending on when you go and where.

There are some lovely time-shares, but try to go for a gold resort and Red Time,as these are superior resorts, and the Red time makes them more appealing. Not all resorts will be the same.

Also go for an timeshare ownership rather than points, then at least you will have your weeks, to swop as you wish, and the points systems may devalue depending on how popular one resort is.

I wouldn't if I were you.
We had two red wks be4 we got divorced
lol it seems eveybody is getting divorced
nothing to laugh about actually
you are going to get stuck
we tried to sell the wks and nobody would buy them
you pay very high maintenance charges for them
and you feel pressurized to use the weeks otherwise after 2 years or so you lose them
you can also swop them but you have to plan your holidays well in advance to work otherwise you won't go where you want to
you will always be sent to Spain. There they have plenty of clubs
you will also be subject to bad clubs if you are stressed about getting your swap through

we went to the usa twice and had great accomodation - our own were 2 bed - we had other great swaps as well - i would recommend rci as i never felt they were one of the 'fly by night' companies
