We don't die because of sin; we die because death is a necessary corollary of multicellular life (cf Ursula Goodenough, "The Sacred Depths of Nature"). We're cruel to each other sometimes because we're animals and finite beings, but we have the capacity to better ourselves. What if we could just be happy on this earth? What if we could believe that there is a soul which survives the death of our body, but that instead of migrating to some transcendent place of bliss or torture, it returns to the earth in another form or lives with our ancestors and the spirits of the world? Does Christianity maintain its hold on us by creating a fictitious sickness for which it claims it has the only cure?

Hey Bubba --

"God says" -- really. I only see that human beings said it. How do you know God talked to them?

And BTW, what's with the beefcake pic? Trying to flirt with hotties on this site?

That train of thought actually degrades 'god', stating we weren't made right the first time. It's sad people think that. The only 'original sin' is to think you have it ; )

In the Book of Romans, we are told to confess our sins and be saved. First off, to answer your questions. You may go around being 'happy' all your life, which I think is impossible, but nevertheless, what do you look forward to after you die?
We are born in to the world of sin, we have a choice of which road to take, following Jesus or Satan.. When we get to the age of accountability, we must chose between the two..
You can receive Jesus as your personal Saviour or not.
A life of Christianity does not mean you will never suffer pain or sorrow but you do have the Lord to help you in every situation. No matter the disaster, He will give you many blessings from it.
I got saved when I was 17 and the numerous blessing I have received in my life is endless. HE has protected me, HE is my best friend, He supplies my needs... I KNOW I have an eternity in Heaven when I take my last breath on earth....
We all have choices in life and sometimes we don't always make the best one.. When I make a wrong choice, Jesus is there to help me..

Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 5:12 - Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Hi:

When we read about Jesus in the New Testament we find that he spoke many time about the need for sinners to be saved.
In Lukes gospel the key verse is "The Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." (Luke 19:10) In John's gospel Jesus said "I am the door, by me if any enter in, they shall be saved" (John 10:5)
If we thing of Jesus who came to save lost sinners, if sinners were not lost, His death would be in vain. The fact that God allowed Him to offer himself upon the cross, tells me that I need to be saved.
Being saved does not simply refer to happiness in the now upon this earth, but refers to future as well. When a person accepts the fact that "Christ died for my sin" we are born from above and are saved. We are saved from the penalty of sin which is to be separated from God forever, We are saved from the power of sin in our lives, God gives us guidance and strength to live for him and to judge sin in our lives. We believe that in the future we will be saved from the presence of sin, when Christ comes and receives us to himself. What a great salvation is this!

I do not accept the idea of Christianity being some sort of control in the negative sense, but is the only way that humans can be given life and set free from the bondage of sin.

I do not think that humans are able to attain happiness on this earth or better ourselves; we seem to always want "more" and cannot be satisfied with our own efforts. It is only when a human is brought back to God that they can experience happiness and satisfaction that this world cannot give. We cannot help how we are born, but we can change our condition before we die by accepting the free gift of eternal life which God alone gives through his Son Jesus Christ.

I do not believe that "sin sickness" is fictious, but accept the fact that "...all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

God bless
Robert

- Explain dieing of "old age", please find a plausible medical explaination, then decide if it makes sense.

- The human body was designed to live forever, (exclude disease, tadgic accidents, & etc.)

- Humans cannot be animals, we may share certain qualities with them but we certainly cannot be considered one of them.

- Animal live by instinct, survival of the fittest, or most well adapted.

- Humans are far beyond animals just based upon capability.

- Consider why humans are top of the chain without any competition what so ever.

- Consider & apply the Bible's life instructions to your life, then decide what the truth is.

You say one thing, and God says another. Since I perceive you to be an idiot everywhere except in your own mind, I think I'll stick with what God says.
